Charlotte had been helping around the house since Nels gave her time off. Her dad was coming from Mankato today so they wanted some quiet time together. Charlotte decided to go into town as well as visit her sister and brother in law that day. Charlotte walked over to her horse that she was able to buy herself. "Good morning Dusty-Rose." The horse neighed rubbing into Charlotte. She put Dusty-Rose's saddle on as Caroline came out. "Are you going into town?" Charlotte nodded as her mom passed her some groceries to buy. She trotted into town headed to the post office where she walked up. "Good morning! Anything in the mail?" The lady nodded, passing her a note for her brother in law. She headed to her horse as she heard, "Lottie!" She looked to see Jason. "Good morning Jason, have you started work yet?" Jason nodded and said, "I got work down at the windmill from a gentleman by the name of Almanzo Wilder."
"Almanzo and I are courting. I'm glad that he was able to give you a job." Jason nodded when the school bell rang and the kids were coming out for lunch. "Jason, you should go talk to Laura and get to know each other again." Jason nodded as he waved goodbye to Charlotte as she got onto her horse and headed to the school. Arriving at the school she opened the door seeing her sister and brother in law kiss. "Hello you two." They pulled apart as Mary smiled and said, "Hello Lottie." She walked up to the couple giving them a hug as she looked at Mary and said, "Oh, I have a beau." Mary smiled and said, "Congratulations sis." Charlotte smiled then remembered. "Do you by any chance remember Jason from years ago?" Mary nodded. "Jason is back and trying to court Laura." Mary smiled and said, "Everyone always thought they belonged together."
"Oh, there is a telegraph for Adam here." This made them confused as Charlotte read out, making him say, "That sounds like me. What does it say?" Charlotte quickly grabbed it and read it to herself, quickly making her happy. She told her sister and brother, making them happy as the three of them hugged. Hester-Sue came in as they explained what happened, making the group happy. "I'm proud of both of you. But I have to go back into town to grab some things for Pa tonight. I love you both." After saying goodbye Charlotte rode back to town grabbing things from the Mercantile. "Maeve!" Charlotte turned to see Almanzo. "Amazon." The couple hugged then pulled apart. "Hey, did I see you talking to Jason?" Charlotte nodded and said, "Me and my sisters knew Jason many years ago. Laura and Jason were quite close, making Nellie jealous. Jason is trying to court Laura which I think is very sweet."
Almanzo nodded then said, "Your Pa coming back into town today?" Charlotte nodded and said, "Which reminds me I have to grab some things for tonight but meet up tomorrow?" Almanzo nodded and said, "Can't believe you'll be 18 in just a few months." The couple hugged and went about their day.
