A supernatural sword and sorcery adventure!
When legendary Tilwen swordsman, Riposte Clasicant, is challenged to defend his actions toward a woman he doesn't love, he discovers her fiancé is a bigger monster than he is.
In Silver Blades novellas, we follow the adventures of Rip Clasicant, who has neglected both duty and honor in recent decades. His life of debauchery often rubs society the wrong way, and just as often it pushes back. Only superior skill with a blade has kept him alive thus far. Pertuli, his sarcastic but well-meaning sidekick, has his doubts about how much longer his friend's fortune will last.
Goose's Thoughts:
It's Week 47 and we are stepping foot into an Adventure story filled with the strangest duel you will ever have the pleasure of reading!
The style of this story is so interesting and really fun to read as we follow our characters into the duel. Right off the bat we are placed smack-bang into the middle of the drama and the hits just keep coming as the story progresses. What I loved is how overly formal the beginning of the story seems only for the chaos and hilarity to hit later on but the style of the writing remains the same. I love how this story is written and how so much is captured in so few chapters.
Each character in this story is so well developed from the beginning and I loved their interactions with one another. In particular, the friendship between Tuli and Rip was such a fun one to read. The way they bounce off each other is incredible, the little sarcastic comments between them really adds to their relationship, and the way they care about each other really adds a new dimension to their budding friendship. Their interactions throughout the story are honestly incredible and Marc did such a good job at capturing their long-standing friendship.
I loved the progression of this story from the standard duel to battling the weresaur with an assortment of cutlery (probably the funniest thing I've read). Marc really manages to capture the tension leading up to the duel and then during as well. The heightened tension, along with a masterfully done POV swap, creates such a tense atmosphere in just a handful of chapters.
Marc's descriptions throughout this story are so good. He goes into so much detail about every aspect of this world and each description adds so much to the insane amount of worldbuilding that has gone into this story. There are so many subtle details released through the dialogue that add so much to the world created in this story and also add so much to the descriptions Marc' provides. The descriptions themselves have so much depth to them and some are disgustingly incredible.
If you're looking for a short, but incredibly tense story with two great best friends and a weresaur then this is the story for you. Despite only being a few chapters long, there is so much that happens and each chapter will have you on the edge of your seat and wanting to read on. The style is so good and I loved how Marc wrote and dealt with each character's progression.
Thank you for writing such an amazing story, Marc!
