Blurb:
Noelle loves Christmas. She is named for it after all. But this year is different. After a recent break-up ruins her tropical getaway with sophisticated ex-almost-fiancé Preston, Noelle finds herself back in her hometown, stranded two weeks before Christmas. And Hawaii is nowhere in sight!
Enter Nik, the ruggedly handsome lumberjack living at the local Christmas tree farm. With love and snowflakes in the air, Nik offers Noelle a fresh perspective on the holiday and on the true meaning of love.
Time to cozy up and break out the eggnog!
Goose's Thoughts:
It's Week 52 and we are finishing the challenge with a cute Christmas read that captures the same love and warmth we feel in a Hallmark Christmas movie!
This story really captures the warmth and comfort that comes from Christmas and Kat really plays into the small-town. I loved how this story felt exactly like the Christmas movies we all watch this time of year. Returning to a small town, deciding between the city-boyfriend or the home-town lumberjack, and the real magic of the festive season. Kat manages to bring all of it off the page until it felt like I was watching a movie rather than reading a story.
Nik is everything someone would expect to find as a small-town romantic interest, but he is so much more than that. I love the depth Kat put's into him with the story of his wife and his unhealthy obsession with eggnog. He's such a romantic a heart and gives Noelle the space she needs to decide for herself. He never pushes her or demands anything from her. Instead, he's willing to wait for her and I just love it. Honestly, he's such a comfy male character and I love him.
In contrast, I wanted to slap Preston around the face which just goes to show what a great job Kat did with each of her characters. His pompous attitude, the way he treats Noelle, and just his whole personality is entirely hateable. I couldn't find a single redeeming quality about him when reading and he's just such a dislikable person. The difference between him and Nik is insane and I just love how different they are. It makes the last few chapters all the more frustrating to read which is definite props to Kat.
If you're looking for a comfy Christmas story that reads just like a Hallmark movie, this is definitely the story for you. The Christmas vibes are incredible and everything about it is magical, especially the small town that Noelle finds herself back in. Kat does a fantastic job with her two male characters and having them as completely different people.
Thank you for writing such an amazing story, Kat!
