Chapter 71

Two days later~

The rest of the trip went well, mostly because we both just avoided each other. Currently, I'm signing papers in my office when I hear a knock on my door.

"Who is it?" I shout so they could hear me. The person behind the door doesn't respond, and instead just comes in.

Frederick?

"Do you need something?" I ask coldly. I still don't trust Frederick, and he still hasn't given me the reason he was in my room.

"I want to talk to you, please. In the garden." Frederick says. His expression isn't one I'm familiar with. It's not one like Eiser's, or even himself. Usually Frederick doesn't show his emotions, but isn't an asshole like Eiser.

"Fine." I say and get up. We both head to the garden and I stand in front of him, waiting for what he has to say. "I want to apologize." Frederick says with a saddened tone. "I don't care about the apology, all I want is from you is to explain why you were snooping in my room!" I shout, annoyed with his tomfoolery.

Every time I ask someone in this household, including Grandmother, they beat around the bush. Frankly, I'm sick of it.

"I wish I could tell you lady Serena, I really do. But I can't, please, believe me I didn't want to, I but had to." Frederick says, as if he's begging me to forgive him.

"Frederick!" I shout, cupping his face to look into my eyes. "I hired you, I loved you, which means you should've told me everything. Not keep secrets from me. Even if we're not lovers, you should've told me if something is wrong! I cared for you, I let you in bedroom, I let you keep my secrets, so why couldn't you tell me yours? Why were you going through my belongings? Answer me." I demand. I may not trust Frederick anymore, but I want answers.

"I..." Frederick is about to speak before he looks behind me with a furious expression. I hear footsteps and I look behind me to see Eiser walking towards us. He looks irritated, but not like when he was irritated with me, he seems more angry.
