Chapter 92

Serena's POV

"Frederick?! What are you—" He covers my mouth before I can ask. I try to get out of his grip but he doesn't let me. He puts a finger up in front of his lips, trying to shush me.

"Im not going to hurt you. Please, just let me explain, please lady Serena." He pleads, his eyes practically begging me and about to spill tears.

He takes his hand away; and I don't talk. I'm actually curious as to what he has to say.

"I...I'm sorry. I know I said these words over and over but I really do mean it. I would never harm you, my job was to protect you, but I ended up falling in love with you. Please, I can't survive without you. My heart belongs to you; my soul belongs to you. I shattered yours and I'm ever so sorry, I can't even forgive myself." His voice crumbles, tears stream from his mourned eyes.

"Believe me, I want to tell you everything. Everything I ever hid from you, everything I did. But I simply can't for both you and me. I don't know what I'd do if my actions took your life. I know you said we aren't lovers, but fate brought us together, I know it has. Please, take me back, I beg you." His head drops, his grip on my shoulders tightens as sobs escape from him.

I...I don't know what to say.

It's true...I did miss Frederick. We had been in love for so long; it's not like I stopped completely loving him. Those emeralds, his loving touch, his soothing voice, I missed it all.

"Frederick..." I lift his face, my hands gingerly cupping his jaw. "It's not that I don't love you anymore, it's that I don't trust you. If I can't trust you, why would I trust my life with you? My heart shatters saying this too, but, I simply don't trust you anymore. And I don't need you anymore either." I explain, my hands slowly leaving his touch. His expression, i can't find a simple word for it. It's like a mix of anger, hurt, shock...it's like his heart just broke into a million pieces.

"It's time for us to separate on our own paths now, without each other." I explain, about to turn away.

"No, no, no, no...NO!" He grips my shoulders again, so tight that I wince from the pain it sends. "We belong together. Don't...don't tell me you love that Grayan now?!" He fumed, his eyes are bloodshot as his fingers dig into my skin.

"Frederick...my shoulders..." I try to warn him but my voice falters. "Serena, do you love that filthy Grayan now?!" He raved, his eyes wide and his teeth gritting at the thought of Eiser and I.

I had never seen Frederick be so angry before; not even this much emotion from him.

My shoulder ached from his harsh grip, I try to pry his hands off but his grip doesn't let go. It's as if he doesn't notice he's hurting me.

"Frederick...LET ME GO!" I scream, practically scratching his hands as I feel bruises forming.

Frederick is about to speak again when he looks behind with widened eyes. Before I can register what was happening, a large hand had hit Frederick in the face. So much so he stumbled back while holding the side of his face. Blood spit out of his mouth as he looks at the perpetrator beside me.

I turn to see...Eiser, his eyes fuming with rage as his hand started to bruise from hitting Frederick.
