"𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐀 cup of tea?"

"Yes, please."

The Knave's slanted eyes wavered towards a certain grey-haired female who merely nodded in response. Lynette approached Y/N with a card in her hand which caused Y/N to raise a brow.

After the accidental run-in just earlier, The Knave had brought the twins and Y/N back to a hidden room that only she had access to. She then proceeded to offer food and drinks.

"Please, take this card." The female spoke softly, offering the card to the other. They were skeptical at first; unsure of what to make of the whole situation. Nonetheless, they reached out and took the card, rendered speechless when a cup filled with warm tea latched onto their fingers.

"Woah..." They breathed in astonishment.

Arlecchino chuckled, placing one leg over the other as she sat on a dark red sofa opposite Y/N. Various cups filled with different kinds of drinks were placed on a long, black table that stretched in front of her.

"My children are quite talented, no?"

Children...

Y/N hummed, a sudden flash of realisation washing over their body. Their chest felt heavy and the air felt thick - tense, even.

"It all makes sense now." Y/N muttered. "Lyney and Lynette are your children. You are the person that they serve. You are who they work for."

The twins were sat next to each other on the same sofa as Arlecchino. They each had guilty expressions on their faces, staring down at the floor as if it were the most interesting thing they had ever layed their eyes upon.

"Come now," Arlecchino smirked, a slight chuckle surpassing her lips, "Don't act as if you didn't know something was off."

"Of course I did. Of course I knew they were hiding something," Y/N begun. "I had my suspicions from the very beginning, when Lyney invited me to his magic show. Was that all just to hunt me down, get me right where you wanted me?"

"Then, when Childe and I interrogated the Gard for the Hydro Archon... We both heard the sound of a door shutting. It's only now I realise that it was Lyney and Lynette eavesdropping in hopes of gaining some valuable information to report back to you."

Clapping her hands together slowly, Arlecchino laughed softly. She had a cold yet amused expression plastered upon her face.

"Very attentive... As always, hm? You see, this is what I admire about you - you're always so very aware of things."

She picked up her cup from the table and took a sip, a satisfied hum slipping past her lips as she did so.

"But, we made a deal, don't you remember?"

Y/N nodded, refusing to meet gazes with the twins despite feeling their desperate eyes burn holes into their skin.

"How could I forget? You gave me an offer that I simply could not refuse."
