𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐈𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐍

what a magician can offer

───── ☆ ─────

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐎𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐑 𝐇𝐀𝐃 finally arrived at his desired destination; a lab within the shadows of Fontaine. A few years ago, Dottore had set up secret underground labs in every Nation possible in case of an emergency. In his mind, he deemed this particular situation to be an emergency.

Pantalone was taking care of business back in Snezhnaya, so if, by miraculous reasoning, Y/N was to magically appear in the Nation, Dottore would be informed immediately.

The Doctor had requested for Fatui Diplomats and spies to follow Y/N's every move ever since Arlecchino had whisked them away to safety. He had been planning this for a while now, and had decided that the timing to play his cards was perfect.

The male stared around his lab in satisfaction, pleased with all the equipment and tools set up. Now, he just had to capture the prey.

He smirked to himself.

All according to plan.

Lyney and Y/N remained sitting in the field of rainbow roses, a soft breeze in the air. The pair basked in a comfortable silence as Lyney tried to process what the other had just confessed to him.

In all honesty, he was shocked. There wasn't another word to describe how he was feeling.

Was that the reason why Arlecchino was always so hesitant to tell the siblings anything about Y/N's life before the Fatui? Was that why she had kept more or less everything about Y/N confidential?

The magician felt an ache in his heart unlike any before. No amount of words could ever describe the pain he was feeling right now. It felt as if his heart had been ripped out of his chest and torn to shreds right in front of his very eyes.

He couldn't even imagine.

In his eyes, Y/N was such a pure and gentle soul. They were his calm after the storm. The mere fact that anybody would dare do such a thing to them and their family enraged and saddened him at the same time.

The wounds, the scars, the nightmares... Perhaps even the vision. They all came into place because of Y/N's past. As horrible as it was to admit, all those factors had shaped them into the person they were today.

"... You're awfully quiet." Whispered Y/N, a small chuckle following shortly after. They desperately wanted to lighten the gloomy mood currently hanging in the air.

Lyney struggled for words. His thoughts were scrambled as his hand gripped tightly onto Y/N's.

"I apologise..." He eventually breathed, "It's just... I..."

"It's a lot to take in, I know." Y/N reassured the other, a warm smile lighting up their face. "I understand completely if you view me any differently."

Blinking at the other, Lyney was quick to shake his head.

"No, no - Archons, it's nothing like that!" He panicked. "It's just... You're so full of life all the time. I wouldn't have imagined that something so... Terrible happened to you and your family."
