Part 3: Mockingjay

My head jolted up. My mind was spinning from the brightness of the white room. I groaned and tried to rub the sore spot on my neck from where I had been jabbed by a needle. But I found that I couldn't my arms were restrained

I tried to move my body but only the sound of chains rustling could be heard. I winced in pain as a chain hit my abdomen. My wound was open again. Snow definitely chose to keep my injuries from being treated.

The door to the room finally opened, and the person I wanted to see the least walked in.

"Glad to see you're awake Miss GreenShire." Snow simply looked at me with the smallest of smiles. As if my pain brought him satisfaction on a sadistic level. I glared at him seeing how pleased he looked.

"Snow." I snarled at him.

Snow walked over to where I was restrained. He still remained at a small distance in case I escaped. Peacekeepers were standing at the door ready to intervene.

"Miss GreenShire," He said smiling. "I believe our time together would prove most useful if we agree not to lie to each other."

I nodded.

"My arena was destroyed." He said, I could hear the fury behind his voice. "I just want to know how."

I stayed silent.

"Let's try this again." He said smiling. I could see the agitation on his face. "How did Katniss Everdeen break my arena?"

"I don't know."

"DON'T LIE!" He shouted. I jumped at the sudden change in his voice. He inhaled a breath and smiled again. "Amaryllis, you're a smart girl. I want us to be friends."

"You hate me." I started. Snow once again smiled.

"I don't hate you, on the contrary I admire you." He said, "You're a survivor, you have what others lack."

"And what's that?" I asked quietly.

"Self-preservation." He said, "You're not afraid to get your hands dirty if it means your survival." He leaned towards me and began to whisper.

"Me and you are alike. We both want to survive even if that means getting rid of a few pawns in the way."

I smiled and laughed. Snow gave a small glance towards the peacekeepers at the door unsure of the reaction he was getting.

"I thought we agreed not to lie, President."

Snow had lost his patience dealing with me. His polite smile dropped and he snapped his fingers signaling for a nurse to come in. My smile faltered when I saw the tray of knives and syringes that the nurse carried in.

"Shame," Snow said disappointed. "we would've made a good team."

Snow stood up and the peace keepers stormed in. They grabbed me and forced me down on the hospital bed, tying my restraints to it.

Snow looked at me disappointed, "If you are unwilling to cooperate, then we must make you."

The nurse tapped the syringe before nearing my arm. I pulled away as far as I could and thrashed around.

The peacekeepers flooded in as I fought back. They held down my arms and legs. The nurse rushed forward and grabbed my arm. She looked to the president for approval.

"I do hope you change your mind, Amaryllis." He said before nodding. He walked out of the room.

I screamed at the top of my lungs as the needle entered my arm and the serum inside burned my veins.
