A couple of weeks later i was about to pick Elli up from work.
She normally would come back with Pansy but she and Mattheo were on their honeymoon.

As I stepped in her floor some of the other nurses looked at me nervously.
This was weird.
One of them hurried over to me.

„Mister Riddle good that you're here. We don't really know what to do"

I raised my eyebrows but she just pulled me towards a corridor.
I could hear loud screaming.
I instantly picked up my pace.

We rushed into a room and my blood began instantly to boil.
In a bed were Solomon.
Next to it was Leonidas full on screaming at Elli.
She seemed strangely calm.
I thought I could even see her smile.

„What do you mean you can't help him? Do your fucking job you cunt! It's your duty! He's your father"

Leonidas screamed.

„If you don't stop screaming I will have you removed. As I said we can't tell what caused his state. Therefore we can't help him. We don't know this kind of dark magic"

She said calm.
Leonidas attention shiftet to me.

„But he knows! They did that! Tell her!"

An innocent smile creeped on my face.

„I don't know what you're talking about. And I would highly advise you not to accuse my family of such things or to yell at my fiance like that!"

His head snapped back to Elli.

„Fiance?"

„Yes Leonidas. And I don't owe this man or you anything just because we carry the same name. And that thankfully not for long anymore"

Leonidas looked furious.
I could see that he was thinking about doing something but looking back at me he decided different.

„This isn't over!"

he blaffed and stormed out.
My eyes followed him as he stormed out.
For a second a had the urge to follow him.

I turned back to Elli.
She stared at Solomon almost with a satisfied smile.
I stepped closer.
The man was sleeping.
He looked terrible.
Whatever my father had done to him that night was bringing him to an end.

„He's dying"

she whispered.

„I know you won't, but could you technically help him?"

She looked up to me and a small grin appeared on her face.

„Of course I could. But it wouldn't suit me well if anyone here would know that I know so well about this kind of stuff"

An almost proud feeling filled me.
I knew in that moment that letting her in to my work and studies was no mistake.
She knew exactly what to do or how to act in certain situations but she had still her good and pure soul.

And I knew I would protect this at all cost.
I would do everything to preserve her precious smile. Her pureness.
Being involved in the dirty work, in the dark work was my part.
I was used to it.
It was what I had chosen.

She only ever did the right thing.
She was my good side.
My sanity.

I was torn out of my thoughts as she grabbed my hand.

„Let's go home love"

she smiled sweet.
This sweet innocent smile as if she didn't just saw her dying father.
I could sense that this gave her some kind of peace.
Soon there would only be two of them left.

I couldn't get Leonidas face out of my mind.
The rage.
The hate.
I had this feeling that as soon as Solomon's life would have come to an end Leonidas would seek revenge.

But what would he do?
He was pathetic.
He couldn't really think he could mess with my family.

Again.

But that was not any of our concerns for a long time. Because Solomon was a hard piece.

Only shortly before Christmas we got the news that he had passed.
We were at my parents house all together.

As Elli got the letter with the news that he had passed and that he had disinherited her she leaned back in the arm chair she sat in.

She layed her head back and a smile crossed her face.
After some time she looked back at the letter and simply threw it in the fire.
I stood behind her stroking over her hair.

„You know it's not over yet"

I whispered low as we watched the letter burn to ashes.

„It will be."

she whispered back leaning into my touch.
Her eyes flickert with the burning fire.

One day before Christmas Pansy and Mattheo announced Pansys pregnancy.
Seeing them so excited made even me happy.

Elli was a bit pissed at first because they hadn't told her sooner.
But in the end she was over the moon for them both.

„Oh my god think of a mini version of the two"

she raised her eyebrows.

„Hm now I don't know if I should be excited or worried"

she added eyeing Mattheo up and down.

„Oh I think he will be a great dad"

I said kissing her head.
She gasped loud.

„Tom Riddle did I hear a compliment about your brother out of your mouth?
Who even are you!"

she giggled.
I pinched her side and she squeaked slightly.
Mattheo had really grown in the role of a husband and I was sure he would be a great dad.
Even I had to admit that.

Even though the mood was so good and everything was so peaceful, I couldn't help but think about the thoughts I had about Leonidas.

This wasn't over.
