Saturday morning came and I wanted nothing more than to stay in bed and sleep. Blue was still sleeping, 14-year-old, she grew up too quickly. I just want to hold her in my arms and never let go. I left her in bed to do my morning routine and make breakfast. I always make sure we spend time together on weekends, too precious.

Breakfast was set, pancakes with freshly cut fruits and orange juice. Blue came down rubbing her eyes, “morning ma, food looks appetizing”. I turned to look her as she set down, “morning love, slept okay?” I asked “yes, so what happened last night?” I thought she’d let that go, but I did
miss our movie night after all. “just dropped someone home” she looked at me while chewing “okay” and just like that I was off the hook. “ma” I looked at her “how come I’ve never seen you with anyone?”. I was not expecting that question at all “where is this coming from?” I deflected.
“I just- never mind” she avoided my eyes “okay” I was quick to answer; I did not plan to discuss my love life with my child.

Monday came quickly and here I was, behind a desk in my office, going through an investment proposal. I was CEO and sole owner of Knowles Properties and had shares in other ventures.

A knock on the door took my eyes of the papers and just as I thought, it was my assistant Kelly. “Miss, I am going out for lunch do you need me to get you anything?” she always makes it a point to ask every day “no thank you Kelly. Enjoy your lunch” and she was off.

Around 5pm I let Kelly know I was off and forward important emails to my phone. Before heading home, I drove to the mall to get bread and milk. While walking out the grocery store I heard my name being called, I turned to look and there she was, Onika.

“Beyonce, hi” I didn’t think I’d see
her again “Onika, hi” I mocked a bit and she smiled. “I just wanted to thank you again” she says while trying to avoid my eyes “I’m glad I could help” she smiled and I smirked at her. I could tell she wanted to make small talk but struggled.

I am intimidating I’ll admit; I had been told many times. “take care” I searched for eyes “goodbye” she said as she held her hand bag close to her chest and walked away.

It was after dinner, Blue and I had just finished cleaning up. I settled in bed going through some emails, Blue was in her room tonight. I normally find her in my bed if I’m out late, I guess she feels closer to me in my bed before she sleeps.

After checking my emails, I thought it wouldn’t be the worst idea to finally give in and go out with my friend Rihanna. I quickly sent her a text;

Me- Saturday dinner at ‘the eat’ 6pm

Rihanna- last I checked, I asked not you

Me- right, like I’d let you decide

Rihanna- dinner can wait, club yes

Me- absolutely not, watch you hit on girls? I’ll pass

Rihanna- you need to get laid

Me- you need to settle down, goodnight.

I put my phone on silent after sending that text, there’s no winning with Rihanna and I had to get up early tomorrow for a meeting I’ve had my PA push back.

“Tell me why am I here?” Rihanna asked as soon as I parked the car outside ‘The eat’. “I think the name of the restaurant says it all” I turned off the ignition and got out the car as she followed suit.

“Reservation for Ms. Knowles” a gentlemen said at the entrance as I put the car keys in my purse. “of course” Rihanna answered and we followed him to our table. “I need to use the restroom, I’ll be back” normally the restaurant is packed at around 7:30pm on Fridays, it was just after 6pm. I quickly did my thing and went back to our table.
