Author's note: New miniseries with Pick and Rome.
Rome always thought meeting his soulmate would be like in those romantic novels he likes to read. The sparks, heart racing and instant connection. But life wasn't a book. Rome caressed the light grey shape of the letter P, entangled with black R on the inner side of his left wrist with his thumb and sighed. He met his soulmate, and he fell in love. Unfortunately, his soulmate didn't. At least the letter, representing him, was visible enough to give Rome hope.
"Rome, are you listening?" Emma's voice snapped him out of the thinking.
"Sure. What were you saying?" Rome smiled at her. His best friend rolled her eyes.
"I was saying Porsche invented us to a charity event he's doing with the Dog and Cat club," Emma repeated. Rome nodded, but he wasn't keen on going. He loved animals and certainly didn't mind Emma's boyfriend slash soulmate Porsche. What discouraged him from going was Porsche's best friend.
"You don't want to go?" Emma asked. She knew about Pick being his soulmate and how he felt about it. It hurt to be in Pick's presence and receive cold shoulder. Emma sensed his sadness, taking his hand in hers.
"We don't have to go anywhere." She offered. Rome shook his head.
"It's okay. Maybe he won't snap at me this time." Rome tried to smile at his friend.
"Are you sure?" Emma asked again. Rome nodded to confirm his decision, but he wasn't sure at all.
"Oh, did I mention the event is out of the town?" Emma pulled her arm away, knowing what Rome's reaction would be.
"Out of the town?" Rome eyed her suspiciously. He didn't like where the conversation was going.
"At the farm. We will stay there for three days." Emma smiled sheepishly.
"Emma!" Rome groaned though he knew it was too late to take his words back.
"Sorry." Emma looked away. Rome rolled his eyes with a sigh. Maybe he could use this opportunity to get closer to his soulmate. He glanced at his wrist, wondering if the P would have the same colour as the R after the outing or if it would fade away completely.
