Friday used to be a day I looked forward to with a lunchtime finish but that was when I could go to Jeffreys house and be alone with him. The idea of sitting in his room pretending I didn't want to consume him was losing it's appeal.
The morning dragged anyway and I wasn't totally focused on lessons. Even with Jeffreys assurance that Lucy had no proof of our relationship, it was still a constant worry and occupied my mind the majority of the time.
When lunch finally arrived I just wanted to go home.
But I met Neve and she told me she'd treat me to a panini and coffee before I finished for the day as she was staying for extra study sessions in the afternoon. So much more academic and focused than me.
In between small bites and sips of coffee, Neve paused, producing a small key and sliding it across the table to me.
"Jeffrey asked me to give you this. He said to go to this address after lunch." she told me.
Her eyes held a mix of curiosity and concern, silently asking what awaited me at the specified location.
Taking the key, a rush of anticipation and a hint of apprehension washed over me.
Neve voiced her worry, "Grace, I'm not sure about this, where does this key lead? Is this a good idea?"
I reassured her with a smile. "Jeffrey wouldn't do anything to put us in jeopardy. I'll be careful, promise."
After we'd finished lunch, I called a taxi to take me to the address on the piece of paper I held tightly in my pocket.
I stood before the block of flats indicated by the mysterious key. The door opened to reveal a well-kept lobby, and climbing the stairs, I reached the door with the matching address.
Turning the key in the lock, the door swung open to unveil a scene of enchantment. Soft music filled the air, rose petals adorned every surface, and the flickering glow of candles created a warm ambiance. In the midst of it all stood Jeffrey, a bottle of champagne in hand, a smile playing on his lips.
"Surprise," he exclaimed, popping the champagne cork, the fizz and sparkle mirroring the palpable excitement in the room. I was taken aback by the romantic gesture, swept up in the magic of the moment.
"Jeffrey, is this... for us?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, as the realization of the effort and thoughtfulness behind this romantic gesture sank in. The warmth in his smile mirrored the flickering candles, and in that moment, the outside world melted away, leaving only the two of us embraced in the magic of the carefully crafted space.
"We needed a safe house" he smiled, placing the champagne on the counter so that he could open his arms and embrace me as I rushed towards him. The feel of his strong arms around me felt incredible. It was a feeling I had missed and never wanted to be deprived of again.
Jeffrey held me in his arms, and as he gently pulled away, he looked into my eyes with a tenderness that spoke volumes. "I wanted this to be a place just for us, where we could escape from everything else," he confessed.
I couldn't help but smile, my heart swelling with affection. "It's perfect, Jeffrey. I never expected anything like this."
He chuckled, his eyes reflecting a mixture of happiness and relief. "I wanted it to be a surprise, a way to create a space where we can just be ourselves without any worries."
As I looked around the carefully decorated flat, a sense of gratitude washed over me. "Thank you, Jeffrey. This means more to me than you can imagine."
He touched my cheek gently, his thumb brushing against my skin. "Anything for you, Grace. I just want us to have our moments, free from everything else."
"I can't believe you did all this" I gushed, gazing around the flat. The whole place was furnished and every room was as romantic as the first one I'd walked into.
"We needed this" He smiled, obviously pleased with himself. I bit my lip anticipating the afternoon and evening ahead. Deciding to tease him now that it was safe for us to be ourselves.
"And what is it you plan to do with me now that you have me here.....Sir" I asked mischievously, enjoying the way his pupils dilated at my choice of words. I leant against the door frame that I now knew lead to the bedroom, excited and nervous all at once.
"Oh Gracie" he warned, running a hand through his hair as his tongue grazed over his bottom teeth. "As much as I want nothing more than to devour you. I want to savour every moment we have and take it slow, enjoy each other, enjoy being alone"
As much as it was killing me to not be able to rip his clothes off, somehow his words and what he was suggesting turned me on more.
"I thought we might start with a dance." He suggested extending his hand, he led me into the centre of the living room where a soft melody played. In the intimate space, the warmth of his touch and the gentle sway of our bodies created a moment suspended in time.
As the dance concluded, Jeffrey cupped my face in his hands, his gaze locked onto mine. "And now," he whispered, "I believe a toast is in order." He retrieved the champagne glasses, and we clinked them together, sealing the promise of the evening.
He lifted his champagne glass, the bubbles dancing in the delicate crystal. "To us," he proposed, his eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that made my heart flutter.
I raised my glass, the cool touch of the champagne flute contrasting with the warmth in his gaze. "To us," I echoed, the simple words carrying a weight of shared moments and unspoken promises.
I smiled, feeling a profound connection in that intimate exchange. "And to this place," I said, gesturing around the romantically adorned flat. "A sanctuary for us, away from the chaos of the world."
Jeffrey's eyes softened, a silent acknowledgment of the sentiment. "A sanctuary," he repeated, clinking his glass against mine once again.
Jeffrey and I revelled in the magic of a space we could call our own, if only for a brief respite from the complexities of the outside world.
