Chapter 2

Arjun POV

The loud alarm rang at 6 AM waking me up from my sleep. I was awake for a while actually, my biological clock woke me up but I laid in the bed, thinking about all that I had to do that day. I finished my morning chores and went into the other bedroom which had a whole set up of gym equipment I use on daily basis. 

I know people prefer taking a membership in the gym, going there and making friends while working out but I am different then all of them. I am an introvert and I would like to focus on myself, especially in the mornings.

I put on some instrumental music and started working out with my thoughts in the head. After my work out, I made a protein shake with boiled eggs and kept them ready for my breakfast after shower. I had a warm shower and dressed for work, spraying myself with cologne.  I chanted a few mantras to have a productive day and rushed through my breakfast catching up on the news around the world.

I drove to my work and reached on time. I plugged in my system and it chimed with messages on my teams. I answered some urgent pings and started off with my meetings. Once I was done with them, I focussed on teams application pop ups from people I did not work with directly. I got a new message from Ira who works with India Office.

I opened the message and saw that she typed a crisp, upbeat message to me about my travel plan as she was the one who would be taking care of my travel bookings as well as settling in the new place when I would take up the lead position in that location which would suit my current personal situation.

I replied back in a few words and she replied back with the different options. Her responses to my queries were quick, the bookings she suggested were pretty good too, which says that she is quick and efficient unlike those who procastinate or slack with their duties. I confirmed her suggestions and she got back in a few hours saying that my itenary, tickets and hotel bookings were all arranged.

She even dropped all the booking confirmations in different folders and shared the one drive link to me so that I could check it and the itenary was in there so that I can update it if needed. The work she portrayed got me curious and I checked out her profile picture.

A gorgeous women looked back at me. She had big brown eyes, a cute nose and a infectious smile. She was dressed in a blue formal blouse and had a medium length straight hair. This women was not only efficient and proffesional but she was also extremely cute.

Once I realized that I was observing her picture for more then 2 minutes trying to see for any signs where I could get back to get disinterested in her, I chided myself and reluctantly closed her picture window.

The rest of the day went off in a jiffy and I drove back to my house at 5 pm walking into an empty, clean house. I changed into my track pants and t shirt, going out to the lake park for a quick jog with 90's music in my ears.

Once I was done with the jog, while I was sitting on the park bench looking at the beautiful sun set I saw a few women looking at me with interested eyes and waving me over. I waved back at them but ignored their advances, running off to my house.

Its not that they were not pretty or I had high expectations or I had no interest, its just that not everybody catches my undivided attention. They are all okay, I might have been close to couple of women in the past but they did not have that which kept me hooked and anchored to them. The truth is may be I try really less to find out or may be being a quite introvert I seldom try to go out of my way to explore about what I might like or dislike.

I went back home and had a relaxing shower enjoying the warm water healing my muscles. I got dressed and made a white sauce spaghetti for my dinner. I prepared the dining table with my bowl of spaghetti and garlic bread. I started my dinner in silence before I heard a ring on my phone.

I picked up the call after seeing the caller id. A video of a very pretty women appeared in front of me who smiled in relief when I picked up the phone. A small smile appeared on my face when I saw that smile on the face of the women I really love 

Her: Arjun, so glad you could pick up. Hope I did not disturb you ?

Me: No

Her: What were you doing ?

Me: Was just having my dinner

Her: Oh, I just wanted to tell you that I am so happy that you finally decided to come back to India. I missed you and the kids are excited to have you here you know ?

Me: They dont even know me properly Naina

Naina: Yeah, but they will know you now. In a few weeks you will be in India and you will have all the time in the world to know these cute trouble makers.

Although her face looked tired, she had a small smile on her face when she spoke about the kids

Me: I will see you in a few weeks Naina, my tickets are booked by the way

Naina: That is amazing, that should have been the first thing you should have told me Arjun

Me: Okay, I gotta go 

Naina: Fine, take care. I love you and I miss you 

Me: Bye

I ended the call and went off to sleep. I am happy there will be a new beginning to my life in a few weeks but why is it that the face from my laptop screen pushed my thoughts into different direction ?
