Chapter 28

Arjun POV

If anything can cheer up a guy who is going through tough times would be an interesting cricket match on the tv but imagine my horror when the fun cricket match would not really cheer me up as I wanted. I was miserable, if I can say that. The fun cricket match, a healthy salad, a chilled beer, nothing seems to be calming my nerves.

I have come back from Ira's place and Ira's behaviour has been imprinted on my mind. Is she okay ? What did she mean when I loved a corpse line ? I was mindlessly staring at the tv, the clock on the drawing room wall showed that it was 10 pm now. 

If it was any other day I would have slept off an hour earlier than this but I have not been able to sleep. After about 20 minutes my phone rung. I thought I will let it go to the voicemail but when the display lightened up with Ira's name I jumped in my place to pick up the call

Ira: Hello ?

Me: Hi Ira, how are you feeling ?

Ira: I am okay

Me: Well you did not look okay to me a while back

Ira: I was not okay then but I am trying to be okay

Me: Fair enough .. Umm, what does it mean when you said I loved a corpse Ira? 

Ira: You heard that haan?

Me: I did, very clearly. To be honest it freaked me out 

Ira: I am sorry that it freaked you out. You should know it was not my intention at all.

Me: I know, you dont have to apolozise for your feelings 

Ira: I am not apologetic about my feelings but you heard that. I scared you, that was what I was apolozising for. Anyways, I thought you would have been asleep.

Me: You still called me me right ? & No, I couldnt sleep 

Ira: I was not going too. Honestly after you saw that outburst I would have preferred to go underground for as long as I exist but remember I had this roomate? She made me. 

Me: So, you only called because she forced you ?

Ira: No, not like that. I was embarassed and I would have preferred to call you once I was over the embarassment but I would have liked to confront you and talk to you about the whole thing which happened

Me: Ira, again, I am sorry to have put you on spot like that but I need to know the meaning behind your words

Ira: Can we meet tommorow ? Please drop by my apartment and we will talk about this ?

Me: Sure

A strange excitement bubbled inside of me, I wanted to see her and talk to her. I am so glad I get to see her & we will be talking soon

Ira: Okay see you then

Me: Okay, good night Ira

Ira: Good night Arjun, I hope you have a good sleep

Me: I will, thank you 

I dont know what it was about the small conversation, I fell asleep in 20 mins after that call, thinking on all the possibilities that could occur with the sun rise.

Next Day

I wore my white shirt and dark blue jeans, ringing the bell to Ira's apartment. Meera opened the door with a smile and a small grateful smile appeared on my face. 

Me: Ira told me you were the one who made her talk to me yesterday night. Believe me when I say this if I did not get to speak with her yesterday night, I would have lost my sleep on that. So, thank you Meera.

Meera: You are welcome, but rather than a thankyou, I would prefer a treat.

Me: Done

Meera: Wow, that was a fast agreement

Me: I am serious about Ira. If you are playing cupid and it actually works, then you get how many ever treats you demand. Now be a good friend and tell me where is Ira ?

Meera: Ira has gone to the temple, she will be here soon. Please wait, I would offer you a cup of tea but I am not really good at it.

Me: No problem

I sat down waiting when Ira walked in to the apartment. She was dressed in burgundy saree with golden art work. The saree was paired with a cream blouse matching the designs on her fabric. She wore metal bangles matching her attire. Her forehead had a maroon dot which suited her well. 

I stood up looking at her, she looked amazing and I stared at her for  a few extra seconds with mouth open. Meera playfully whispered to me asking me to close my mouth which is when I realized what I was doing. 

Ira: So shall we talk now ?

Me: Okay

Meera took the basket from Ira's hand and I sat down in front of Ira

Me: Are you going to answer all my questions?

Ira: I will try my level best
