Chapter 33

Ira POV

Today would be a brand new day for me and if everything goes well then it would be a brand new day for us, me and Arjun. I have decided that today on the idle day of the weekend would be the time when I would go ahead and tell out my feelings to Arjun.

Yes I doubted the whole thing for a second

What if he moved on ?

What if he likes that Pragya ?

What if he laughs out on my face ? (Considering that I took so much time to reply back)

I woke up early with the excitement alive in me. Meera made sure I agreed to her painting my face, I mean the make up.  I sat down in front of the dressing table and Meera started using her make up skills on me. I made sure I conveyed that it should not be over the top but what surprised me at the end of the session was that she just enhanced my features. She brushed my hair and left it like that showing off my unruly curls.

I changed into the blue and brown colored cotton saree and paired it with a contrasting color blouse, accessories and a good perfume. Once I was ready, I took a cab to Arjun's house. Once Arjun's villa came into my vision my stomach dipped out of nervous flutters.

My phone ringed at the apt time

Meera: You reached?

Me: I am in front of his gate

Meera: Go ahead and knock on the door silly

Me: Meera, I am scared

Meera: Dont let me come there and whack some sense into you

Me: Fine, I am going 

Meera: Good and dont worry it will be fine

I smiled at her affectionate tone. I paid the cab driver and head out of the cab, walking towards his door. The watchman at the gate recognized me and let me in. Bless him for not ruining the surprise.

I rang the door bell and the door opened revealing Arjun. He looked like he showered a while ago wearing casuals. His eyebrows went into his hair looking at me before him.

Arjun: Ira, you here ?

Me: I wanted to talk 

He still blinked his eyes like he saw a ghost. He just stood there in the door way. I patted him on his hand which is when he came off from his dream land

Me: Arjun, can I come in ?

He nodded and let me in. I walked in to the house while he stood behind, composing himself I believe. He finally closed the door and stood before me.

Arjun: What are you doing here Ira ?

Me: Why cant I come here ?

Arjun: You do realize you ignored me for the past couple of days 

Me: I should say that, you were so involved training your employee that you forgot about me completely. You even bailed on our usual lunch time. 

Arjun: Hey, you could have asked me to join you

Me: When should I ask you when you were busy with Pragya ? If I asked you remember you bailed 2 days straight

Arjun: What about later ? 

Me: You never joined me though you know when I usually go and when you did join you had that Pragya joining us who btw is very irritating, hijacking the conversation, so I thought I will eat alone. Why dint you say something or ask me for lunch ditching her ?

Arjun: I could not she is my team member and if you would have asked after that initial few days I would have had my lunch with you

Me: You seriously think it would have been possible ? Pragya would have joined and I was not comfortable with her so I thought I will help you out so that you dont have to choose as you could not ditch her. I went alone and you never really objected right?

Arjun: Anyways, why are you here ?

I came here to propose to him and we ended up having a tiff like usual. I took a deep breathe picturing Meera's angry face if I messed it up and then looked at him.

Me: I wanted to talk to you

Arjun: Okay, about what ?

Me: Can I have a glass of water ?

He nodded and handed me the glass of water, I chugged it down in one shot and coughed out.  He gently patted on my head to relieve me and that small action bought a smile.

Arjun: Are you going to talk now ?

Me: How are Sreekar and Shika doing ?

Arjun: You spoke to them yesterday Ira and start talking 

Me: How did you know ?

Arjun: I was there at my sister's yesterday and I heard you chat with them

Me: Oh 

Arjun: Ira, are you going to talk ?

I slowly held his hand in mine like I wanted to and walked a step close to him. I saw that he did not shrug off his hand but he looked surprised. I hugged him and snaked his arm on my back, he did not reject the actions so I finally mustered up the courage for the confession.

Me: I love you Arjun 

I did not want to see his face and tell him as I would be nervous looking into his eyes. It was my way to hide from meeting his eyes. He slowly held my chin and made me look at him that is the time when I got nervous

Arjun: Say that again

Me: I love you Arjun 

When I heard it said out loud I was proud. I actually smiled and the confession put a small tiny smile on his lips. He held my face in his palms carefully like I was a glass doll and ran his fingers along my face contours with the back of his fist. 

I sighed feeling at peace with him and when I opened my eyes he looked at me with intensity.

Arjun: I love you too Ira 

Listening to his words there was a burst of happiness inside of me 

Me: Really ?

Arjun: Yes 

Me: Promise ?

He chukled but promised seeing my child like excitement. He slowly ran his fingers through my wavy curls looking at me with amazement written over his face. He pulled me back into a hug and we enjoyed the peace which sorrounded us until I was pushed back from him.

I looked at him with questions written all over my face 

Arjun: We love each other but we cannot be together ?

Me: Why ?

Yes I whined but Arjun confused me right now

He went and stood with his back towards me near the window while I needed my answers
