Chapter 48

Ira POV

I came to work and found that Arjun was not there in his usual seat. It was way past his incoming time but he was still not here. The last I spoke to him was in the morning when he wished me good morning and went offline. I thought he was getting ready for work but that is not the case.

I tried to call his number but the call went unanswered. It was difficult for me to concentrate on my work but I sailed through the whole day. In the evening I rushed to his home and he opened the door in his casuals.

Me: Arjun, you got me worried. Where were you ? What were you doing ? Were you on the leave ? 

Arjun: Iru, just breathe and come inside. I will tell you everything.

Me: Fine

As soon as I went in, Arjun handed me a glass of water with a smile and that calmed my nerves. I sat down on the couch and he sat down in the front of me.

Arjun: Its rather cute to see you worry 

Me: Dont divert the topic, tell me what happened to you today

Arjun: I took an another job 

Me: What ?

Arjun: Yes, I took an another job 

Me: Why dont I know this. You did not even send a resignation email, you are messing with me right ?

Arjun: There is a client who I worked with for a project. He had asked me to join his company for a while. I did not have a reason for a job change before but I do have a reason now

Me: I am that reason right ?

Arjun: No, we are the reason. I wanted us to have a good working environment, I know you love your job and I do too but I had this offer, so I took it to quicken things up. I would be talking to my manager tommorow and resigning tommorow. Today I just got the offer.

Me: But, Arjun you like this job

Arjun: I know I do but I like you more and ofcourse this job has more perks and we dont have to deal with the drama at work 

Me: So you are really leaving ? I am going to miss you at work 

Arjun: I know, but now we can both travel together. I will drop you and pick you up. No more carpooling okay ?

Me: Fine, I know why you are shifting in a rush. You do not want anybody to walk all over us or demean us. And you do not want either of us in trouble, especially me. I know how upset you were when Pragya was targeting us

Arjun: She made me angry 

Me: I know, good luck for tommorow. How long might the notice period be for you ? 

Arjun: 30 days I believe, I will tell them the real reasons and if they really have a problem then they will fasten the process

Me: Yeah 

A few days later 

Life can be a bit unpredictable at times. Arjun made an elobrate plan knowing how the corporate works. When he said that he was quitting because of all the unfair heat we faced after our relationship was out, he was offered better salary with an apology for both of us and an assurance that we will not face any trouble from now on

I never looked at Arjun in this way, the powerful, influential one who is so good at his job that people do not want him to leave. With the little stunt he did, people gave us that respect because he was ready to leave this job for me. It kind of set his priorities straight to everyone.

In all this, I got a couple of calls from my family when I was around Arjun, he just frowned, never commented on it but I feel like something is cooking in his brain. Although I ignored the calls and blocked those numbers I feel exhausted to deal with them now.

A few days later 

Meera was at her boyfriend's place, she might be back in a few hours late at night so obviously Arjun was staying behind with me. We both were cooking together, I was making the food while he was helping me with the preparation. It was the date night for us where we picked a movie and everything. The doorbell rang, we assumed it was the zomato person who was bringing us the cheesecake. Arjun went to open the door but did not return for a while.

Me: Arjun, is the delivery agent arguing with you about the tip ?

I went ouside when I heard nothing, in front of me stood my family face to face with Arjun glaring at them while they looked at him scared. Why were they scared of him ? They saw me in the room and Arjun walked to me and stood beside me like he was giving me the silent support. My mother walked up to me and shook me 

My mother: How dare you do that ? 

Me: Do what ? Oh if you are talking about Arjun then its none of your business ...

My mother: You are a shameless person we know, we are talking about how you made us homeless 

Me: You guys have gone mad, why would I do that 

My mother: You might not have done it but you made him do it

Me:  What are you talking about ?

My mother: Ask your boyfriend 

Me: Arjun ?

Arjun: If you mess with my women I will make sure you will repent 

Damn, Arjun made these people homeless
