"Yeah well, I guess we'll never know."

When the elevator starts moving you're phone vibrates in your pocket, picking it up and seeing the contact name you put it to your ear.

"Mom?"

"Hey, sweetie. How are you?" Your mother asks through the speakers of your phone. You pull your phone away from your ear from the volume, that was apparently on speaker mode.

"I'm good, how are you? Sandy been with you today yet?" You ask while you try to push the speaker button to turn it off so not everyone in the elevator can hear the conversation.

"Yes, every day.. You make her bother me every day." She grunts in response and you laugh.

"She's your nurse mom, its her job. I don't make her bother you." You tell her but when you push the speaker button for the third time, a Joker logo covers the button. You turn to Rhea standing behind you. She just shrugs with a smile and you roll your eyes. There really wasn't any privacy here.

"Sure feels like it. How's work?" Your mother asks.

"Great! I love it. My co-workers are great." You tell her.

"Good, I'm happy. You deserve it." She tells you. "Anything happened since you moved? Anything fun?" She asks and you can't help but laugh.

"Yeah sure, did i tell you my dead best friend came back to life? And then he drugged and kidnapped me, and I'm currently a prisoner in a huge crime lord's tower with strangers constantly watching and listening. And who is doing this to me, a ghost, literally. I'm having a blast.." You tell her. The part about listening you send a glare to the eavesdropping people behind you. Not that they need to do much eavesdropping, since you and your mom's voice are the only one in the elevator.

"Oh dear. You have such morbid humour, you both did." She chuckles. "Jason and you kinda worried poor us, many times." She tells you and you chuckle with her.

"I remember when we walked in on you all talking about sending us to a mental hospital to get checked out, just in case." You laugh at the memory. And how you and Jason had already started planning your escape.

"Oh, we were only joking." She tells you.

"You sure about that?" You ask and the line stays silent. You laugh.

"I'm not sure if I remember." She tries to brush over it, chuckling again.

After that you stay silent for a moment, your thoughts clouding your mind.

"Mom?" You then say, your voice a bit sadder. It's as if a cloud consumes you and your thoughts, and you forget where you are.

"Yes, sweetheart?"

"If Jason was alive, where do you think he would be in his life right now?" You ask her.

"You mean if he didn't kill himself and his home life wasn't so horrible as it turned out it was? I still feel awful for not seeing the signs..." She tells you with a sad sigh.

The guys and Rhea in the elevator share a glance, but you just look stare into nothing, completely forgetting they're there. You were starting to get used to them always being around, not really caring what they hear. You'll just blame Jay if he doesn't want them to know and hear everything.

"Yeah..." You answer your shoulders slumping. She takes a second before answering.

"I think he would be someone great, he was a smart boy, clever, resourceful. Not to mention mischievous." She chuckles. "He would make a name for himself, become someone strong and fierce. With you by his side." You snort at the last part.

"... right." You say unconvinced.

"You would! That boy was head over heels for you dear. The only thing holding him back was that stupid father of his. If it wasn't for him he would've found the courage to tell you how he really felt about you and he would never let you go."

You stay silent. Knowing it clearly wasn't try since he never came back for you. You try not to feel heartbroken by it and shake your head.

"Yeah well, I guess we'll never know." You say.

"I guess not..."

"I have to get to work mom, so I'll call you later." You say when the elevator doors open.

"That sounds good, goodbye sweetheart."

"Bye mom."

You walk to the car and Johnny and Wade drives you to work Rhea tagging along. They don't comment on the phone call or tell you why Rhea came with. You just notice Wade and Rhea disappearing somewhere with the car and Johnny seems to be the one watching you tonight.

Author note :
Just a little moment with her mother.
Also there isn't much privacy in this tower, hihi. I kinda want it like that in the beginning, because that way his team learns more about their boss. Because Jay would never really tell them things, not even to Johnny, and i want them to start to really care for him(and Y/N) more like a friend, than just respecting him as their boss.
