You get a random call and someone starts threatening Joker, and says he knows you.
Afterwards you've been frantically calling his contact, but there's no response.
The tower is empty and in your panic you completely forget everything that Jay had told you the day before, that they would be unavailable to reach for the day becase of a job or a mission they had.
...
Jay stands in the elevator talking with Jonny and Wade when the doors open. They don't notice the running footsteps until they turn and you jump into Jay, embracing him. He has to catch himself holding on to the sides of the elevator to not fall on his butt when he stumbles back from the impact.
Just a moment after you pull away, you take his head in your hands, checking him over.
"Are you hurt? Did something happen? Where were you? Why didn't you answer your phone?"
"Doll, what are you talking about?"
"I thought you died. That you left me again. Why didn't you answer? Did you get hurt, did he hurt you? What happened? I thought you got hurt. I thought you died." You start rambling your eyes not focusing on anything more than a second. Looking him thoroughly over for any damage, and to check if he's real. You start hyperventilating as you keep rambling nonsense about him being dead or alive, being hurt, leaving you again or about not answering his phone.
Jay grabs your face to try and stop you but you don't stop talking. He tries to tell you to breath as he holds you but realises he needs to do more to calm you.
So he turns to the guys watching worriedly from the elevator. He dismisses them from what they were supposed to discuss with him and he lets one hand go and leans in to push the button to close the doors.
Ones he holds your head again you say something that catches his attention.
"He told me you were going to die." You say among your nonsense and Jays hand flies between the elevator doors, stopping it just before it closed.
"What did you say Y/N?" He tries to ask you over your rambling. "Who told you that?" Jay asks you, but you don't hear him.
Tears are streaming down your face as you continue to speak nonsense. Jay takes your upper arms and lead you to the couch. He makes you sit and lean in front of you.
"Y/N." He tries but you don't hear him as you hyperventilate. "Breathe." You try to calm your breathing, not because you can hear him. But because you feel like you can't breathe.
You're still gripping his shirt as tight as you can, holding him like he would disappear if you let go.
"You're lying. He's not gone. He can't be." You start talking as if you're not there in the presence. Jay frown at your words.
"Speedy, where are you?" He tries to make you look at him but you just look out into nothing like your looking at someone. "Doll, where are you right now?" He asks you.
— Flashback —
"You're lying. Why are you saying something like that?"
"I'm sorry, sweetheart, but it's true. It's horrible and tragic, but it's the truth. He's gone, Y/N."
"No! He's not gone. He can't be." You shout at your mother, standing up in anger.
"I'm so sorry, sweetie." She lets out a soft sob. A you look at her in disbelief.
"No. You're wrong." You tell her walking to your desk and picking up your phone. You try to call him, but it cuts to the voicemail.
"Hey, it's Jason. If you're trying to get a hold of me, then don't bother. If it's you, Speedy, keep trying. I'll answer when I'm ready. Or I'll call you back soon, doll." Peep and the line goes dead.
