"I have a tendency to sound like an interviewer when I have a conversation."
-Suddenly the door gets kicked open, breaking the lock, and you scream in surprise. Two of the big muscle guys who was sitting at the table earlier walks toward you and you try to back away from them.
One guy grabs you and starts dragging you out but since you're fighting against them, the other guy takes your feet and they carry your squirming body out of the bedroom and out the hallway.
"Let me go! I just want to go to sleep, okay.. Stop it!" You exclaim as you squirm in their tight hold. They set you down at the chair beside Jay, who's sat down eating again.
When you try to stand up the guy takes your shoulders and holds you down. You look around the table, Wade and the girl give you a sympathetic look. Jonny looks at you with his usual amusement, finding you as entertaining as ever. When you calm down, you glare at Jay.
"Eat." He orders again and pushes a plate toward you, not taking his eyes off some papers he's reading. Choosing not to fight it, you start eating.
"So, what are you doing?" You ask no one in particular, just whoever would look up at your question. But no one acknowledges you. You sigh and turn to Jay.
"How was your day?" You ask him.
"A good one, I've had a fine day. What about you, doll?" He gives you a smile before taking another bite.
"Good. Mine's been good too." You mumble, trying to think of a way to bring up the dinner again. "But Abby asked-"
"No." He then interrupts again. You huff and turn to someone else.
You eyes landing on the girl that removes her attention away quickly when you look at her, concentrating on her laptop.
"What's your name?" You ask her and she looks up at you with wide eyes, then she glance at Jay. He looks up and follow your line of sight, when meeting the girls eye, he gives her a nod and turn back to what he was reading.
"Rhea." She tells you.
"That's a beautiful name." You tell her with a smile. She gives you a small smile back, frequently glancing toward her boss.
"Titan Rhea." You then remember that random fact you know. She looks at you confused. "The first generation of Greek gods and goddesses, she's the mother of Zeus, Poseidon, Hades.. Your parents know Greek mythology, or just liked the name?"
"Uh.. my father was a History Professor."
"You have any siblings?" You ask. She chuckles.
"Yeah, Selene and Ajax." She says looking down, and you chuckle with her.
"Well Greek mythology does have some beautiful names."
"You know it?"
"Not much, only enough to start a conversation." You give her a wink. "Your family live in Gotham?" You then ask.
She shakes her head.
"What do you do for Jay?"
"Uhm... Hacking mostly." She eventually says when Jay doesn't say or do anything to stop her from answering, only concentrating on the papers and his laptop while eating.
"Interesting. How did you come to work for him?"
"I hacked into his old system." She says and you laugh.
"You were out for trouble, huh?" You ask.
"I regretted it soon after yeah, their system was easy to hack, but they have a talent for finding who they want found and getting them before they slip away. I learned that the hard way." She says and but then suddenly glance down with a look as if remember it and she looks a bit bothered, or scared. She shakes it away and turn back to you. "But I was lucky, Jay wanted me to work for him. So, here I am."
"What's your favourite part of the job?.. I'm sorry I have a tendency to sound like an interviewer when I have a conversation." You chuckle.
"That's okay. Uhm.. All of it really, but the hacking part must be my favourite. Though the code we use was really interesting to do."
"Code?" You ask.
"Yes, it's really cool, Mr. J has this code language that he had me imprint into every-" She starts to tell you but gets interrupted by Jay.
"Doll! You know what!?" You jump at the sudden exclamation from Jay.
"What?" You ask, annoyed with the interruption. Jay looks at you with wide eyes and an overly enthusiastic smile that seems fake. He looks like he's trying to think of something to say.
Jay tries to think fast, he can't let you know about the code system, so he has to come up with something that not just changes the subject but takes your mind off it.
"You can go to dinner tomorrow." He tells you with a sigh.
"Really!?" You ask with a huge smile.
"Yes." He tells you but his smile is gone and he turns to his laptop again.
"I'll go text Abby." You tell him and take your empty plate to the kitchen. But not before giving him a peck on the cheek, which surprises everyone around the table.
Jay stays emotionless at the gesture, but Jonny being closest to him notice the light pink blush that forms on Jays cheeks.
"I'm sorry, boss." Rhea tells him and he sighs.
"I forgot to mention: Don't tell Yn about the code language." He looks at everyone around the table.
They all nod in affirmation. Even though they're curious as to why they can't say anything about it. The code language is complicated and confusing, so it's not like you would know how to use it.
