"It's cold without you."
—Jay sighs, standing up he reaches for it, but just as he does you sneak your other arm to his side and give him a quick tickle. He jumps at the action and looks at you with a look of shock. He had completely forgotten he was ticklish, no one ever gotten close enough to him since you, to get the change to tickle him.
Your mischievous smile grows, but before you get to continue he grabs your wrist. He gives you a warning glare. You drop the thing in your hand and tickle his side, he gasps but grabs your other hand too. Jay holds his breath, closing his eyes tightly, biting his bottom lip. This was not happening, he says to himself in his head. He opens his eyes to glare at you again, but you just laugh. That angers him more, so he lets your hands go to attack you.
You gasp and squeak as he tickles you furiously. You laugh breathlessly as he keeps attacking you. Trying to tickle him back is useless, him being so much stronger, it's impossible.
"Oh! Okay, okay! Stop.. Stop! I surr.. i surrender!" You exclaim and he finally stops his attack.
He lets out a genuine laugh, not overdramatic or face in any way, a soft chuckle and lean back in his chair with a deep sigh.
"I made you laugh." You state with a tired smile. He stares back at you for a long moment.
"Yeah, you have a tendency to do that." He tells you with a ghost of a smile.
"It's my mission in life." You tell him with a shrug, but with a proud smile on your face.
"No, you said your mission was to make me smile. And as you know, the Joker is all about that smile." He says taking his palm up over his mouth, showing the smiling tattoo on his hand and your smile fades slightly.
"You know it's not the same." You tell him with a sad smile. He sighs and takes your hand.
"I know." He mumbles, rubbing his thumb over your knuckles.
You yawn and he looks up at you with a tired smile.
"Just go to bed. doll. I'll be there soon. Just gotta finish this little thing right now, then I'll come straight to bed." He promises, but you know it's bull.
You pretend to relent and push yourself from his desk. He watches you leave, thinking about how you make him feel. You close the door after you and leave to get ready for bed.
...
You go back to his office in your pyjamas. When he glances up from his papers and sees you coming in, he slightly winces in guilt for lying and sighs, but doesn't look at you as you approach his desk.
When you get to him, you take his chair and turn it slightly. He doesn't take his eyes off the paper in his concentration but when he feels weight on his thigh, he looks up in surprise when he sees you sat down on his lap.
You don't look at him you just get comfortable on his lap and lean forward on his desk reading whatever you can see. It doesn't make much sense to you, so you take the stapler and start to fiddle with it. He clears his throat, but you don't turn to him.
"What are you doing?" He asks you.
"Nothing." You answer and fiddle more with the stapler until it pops open. "Ops." You chuckle, but keep fiddling with it. He takes it from your grasp and you give him a little pout.
"It's late. Go to bed, Yn." He tells you.
"No, it's cold without you." You tell him. His heart warms at you saying that, but he tries to ignore it with an awkward cough.
"Then take some blankets from the closet or something."
"No need, I'm good now." You tell him and lean back into his chest.
"I'm still going to work Yn." He tries to tell you.
"Mhm. Okay." You just say and close your eyes, leaning your head on his shoulder and snuggle your face in his neck. You feel him sigh, but doesn't say anything and continues working while you lay on him.
After a few minutes you start to fiddle with his collar. He takes your hand to stop you a few times but you always find your way back after a while.
"Are you done soon?" You then ask.
"Not really." He answers.
"We should go to bed." You tell him.
"You should." He tells you, his focus still on his laptop.
He must have a headache to from how much his on a screen lately too, you think.
"Not without you." You pout and he sighs.
"Yn, i need to get this done."
"Yes, but you also need a break, Jay."
"I'm okay."
"No, you're not." You tell him sternly, sitting up and turning fully to him on his lap. He stops abruptly and turn to you, and when he does he's met with your hard stare. "And I'm not going to bed until you do."
"Okay, fine." He relents. "Let me just save this and send it to Rhea and Jonny." He tells you, you nod and lean back into him as he finishes. Your eyelids had slowly started closed and you almost doze off, but come to and lean back up.
"Jaaaay.." You whine, getting annoyed with him. "You said you were done hours ago."
"I said i was done 15 minutes ago, doll." He tells you with an amused chuckle. "But I'm done now, let's go to bed."
"Promise?" You smile sleepily. He kisses your head.
"Promise."
Before you get to move from his lap he stands up with you, carrying you like you weight nothing out the office. He lays you down on the bed, before going to the bathroom himself. You make sure to stay awake until he comes back.
You wait, but frown when it's taken a bit longer you think is necessary to get ready for bed. You had heard the toilet flush and the sink pouring but not the shower. Getting out of bed you start to get worried, but then you get a thought and your frown turns into an angry one.
You slowly open the bathroom door, just in case you're wrong. But once you see him, you push it open further and cross your arms with a scoff.
Jay was too concentrated to hear the door open, but once he heard your scoff he jumped and almost dropped his phone. He looks back at you in shock at being busted. You were so tired, he thought you would fall asleep the second he put you on the bed.
"You promised-" You're about to scold him, but gasp in surprise when he tackles you up from the floor and carries you over his shoulder out of the bathroom. "Jay-" You yelp when he throws you on the bed.
You land and bounce on the bed, before he lays down on top of you and rests his head on your stomach. You giggle and start petting his hair gently and combing through it, you lean back in the bed and start to massage his scalp with your nails.
"You're so comfy." His voice muffled as he nuzzles deeper into your stomach and wraps his hands around your torso. You smile and close your eyes, soon you both fall asleep in that position.
...
Jay slowly wakes up, his eyes fluttering open. He turns his head and sees himself splayed out on top of you, his heads former position on your stomach. He looks up to see you still sleeping peacefully, and can't help the smile forming his lips. Jay carefully gets up from his position, trying not to wake you up. He changes and checks his watch. You had gotten him to get a full night of sleep, even though you got to bed late, it was now late in the morning so he had gotten at least eight hours of sleep.
He felt lighter and more energetic. His shoulders felt more relaxed and he felt in a better mood too. He sighs in contentment, then turn to glance at your sleeping figure in the bed before leaving the room. He was still strict and yelling at a few occasions, but that was necessary. Though it was nothing compared to how the last few days had been. His team noticed and internally thanked you for existing.
