"How do i look?"

"It was Y/N, wasn't it?" Jonny then asks after telling the others a short version of their meeting. Jay looks down again. The team is really enjoying seeing they're boss in this new light. They feel closer to him.

Jonny is relieved that Jay isn't just denying everything and shutting the conversation off just because his team is around. He has over time managed to show Jay that when his team know him better they work better for him.

"Mhm." Jay mumbles and before anyone says anything, the elevator doors open. They look up as you come through the door, though Jay stays frozen with his back to the elevator. He takes a deep breath and turns to you.

As you walk into the room after coming back from work you look up from your phone to see the others. You smile walking toward them but stop abruptly when the last guy turns around to you. Your whole body freezes.

He smirks at you and takes his arms out to gesture at himself. He's in a casual outfit with gloved hands, but his face is normal like the skin colour he used to have, his hair is brown like it was before. He looks exactly like how you imagined he would've looked like, bringing sad memories to the front of your mind. You start to get dizzy, and stop remembering where you are and what's happening.

"How do i look?" He asks, but then notices your state.

You're looking like you're seeing a ghost, at the same time turning into one as you start going pale. You start to slowly breathe faster, whispering to yourself.

"No, no, no. He's dead. He died. He's not real. It's just an hallucination, you've had them before Y/N, it's not real." You whisper and close your eyes trying to calm your breathing, taking a few stumbling step backwards.

Jay hurries over to you. He grabs your shoulders, but then your face, to try and make you look him in the eyes.

"Hey, hey. It's okay, it's me, breathe doll."

"No, no, no." You start shaking now. "This isn't real."

He takes off his glove.

"See? It's me, it's real. It's just the disguise. It's okay Y/N." He tells you, and you slowly take his hand looking at it.

Seeing the pale white skin and tattoos calms you. He was still here. You weren't hallucinating. You hadn't just imagine the last month of your life. (haven't decided how long into the story this is though) It was real, he was still really here, alive, with you. It wasn't like the dreams or nightmares. When you had gotten a bad concussion a few years back, you had seen him like this, standing by you the whole time in the ambulance. The doctors said it was just a pigment of your imagination because of the concussion.

You had seen him every time something really emotional happened to you, he had just appeared and been with you, wordless but you knew it was supposed to be an older version of him and it was like he was watching over you with a reassuring smile on his face. It had helped you in those moments but had also made the loss hurt even more, reminding you that he wasn't there.

There had been moments you thought you had seen him in a crowd because someone looked him, well looked like what you had imagined he would look like. You take a deep breath, and look back up at him. Like this, it's literally exactly like how you had imagined.

You let out a shaky breath, staring at him. Studying his face. His hair, his eyebrows. How his skin is normal again. His eyes the same as always.

"You look exactly like I imagined you would." You touch his face, gently trace his cheek, brushing your finger through his hair around his ear.

He gives you a sad smile and leans into your touch. You turn your attention back to his hand, holding it tight. It feels like it's your hold on reality right now. You look past him and at the others.

"What do you think?" Sophia asks a little worried because of your reaction.

"You're very talented Sophia." You tell her and then look back at his hand, tracing your fingers over his knuckles.

She smiles in appreciation, then turns to Wade, who gives her a wink. Her cheeks turn a dark pink, as she looks away. Making him chuckle. You look up at Jay.

"You're so pretty." You laugh.

"Thank you?" He frowns unsure.

"No but like, you look so cute." You laugh more and he rolls his eyes.

"I would probably grow a beard." He tells you and you gasp dramatically.

"Why don't you grow a beard?"

"Hah! They think i look weird as I already do, how'd you think I'd look with a green beard and green eyebrows." He says, and you laugh loudly, barely breathing. He smiles at you with a chuckle.

The others in the room also chuckle. You finally stop laughing, panting. You take a step back still holding his hand, you look him up and down. You nod in satisfaction with a smile.

"Are you ready?" You ask.

"Yes." He tells you. He walks you to the elevator, everyone following. You never let go of his hand.

Standing by the exit you reluctantly let go of Jays hand, letting him take the glove back on. You give Sophia a hug and tell her goodbye.

"Thank you for your help."

"You're welcome. I'll see you after the weekend." She waves to as you leave with the guys.

In the car to the plane you've gotten more used to his appearance.

"It's weird seeing you like this." You tell him.

"But better?" He says looking at you.

"I didn't say that."

"I'm sure you think it's better than how I really look like." He says looking out the window.

"No. This isn't you anymore Jay."

He looks at you a long time but you have put your attention on the view outside the window.

Outside your mothers nursing home

"Stay in the car." He tells his men.

"You know there are gonna be questions if we walk around in town with them looking like they're our bodyguards." You tell him. He thinks for a second then turn to Jonny again.

"While we are here, you will all act like you're with us like our friends." He tells Jonny.

"Gee.. Here I thought we already were friends." Jonny jokes, smiling teasingly to Jay who rolls his eyes.
