Devil in the Shadows

Yeri was in the spa, at her office looking through some reports when her phone chimed.

She picked it up and as soon as she opened the message, the loud moans echoed inside the office. Yeri quickly locked it silencing the device. She looked around embarrassed but luckily her office door was closed.

She opened the phone again, this time muting the device effectively. She thought her friends probably were pranking her until she looked closely at the video. It was a short clip but the faces were pretty damn clear. She almost dropped the device when she identified the faces. It was her and Commander Kwan in the video. Yeri's heart beat faster and her mouth hung open like a fish out of water. She covered her mouth with her hands. She couldn't believe her eyes.

Yeri quickly deleted the footage, scared that it might somehow spread. She jumped out of the chair when her phone rang loudly. She looked at the number but it had no caller id.

Hesitantly she picked up the phone and pressed it against her ear.

"Hello darling.... How do you like the video?" The voice on the other end asked.

"Who...who is this?" Yeri asked, her voice cracked a little in fear.

"I am your biggest fan honey. That's quite a performance. And you had me craving for more...." There was an evil laugh at the end and Yeri felt disgusted and frightened at the same time.

"What do you want?" Yeri found the courage to ask.

"My...my....straight to the deal are we?...well since you asked nicely...how about posting this on social media? You could be famous honey." The teasing voice replied.

"No..." Yeri screamed." Please no..."

There was an evil laugh from the other end. " No? Why not? You could be a celebrity in no time." It suggested.

"No...please no...I beg you please." Yeri was almost on the verge of tears.

"Or perhaps I can send it to your father." The voice said again.

"Noo..." This time the scream was even louder. Yeri couldn't bring herself to think of the situation.

"This isn't a negotiation dear. How long do you want me to wait with something so priceless in my hand?"

"What do you want? Money...I can give you money. Or do you need something else? Tell me what you want I can arrange it." Yeri seemed desperate.

"Really? Anything?" The voice dipped a bit lower

"You bastard if you are looking for me to sleep with you ....I will make sure to find you and kill you. Remember who was with me in this video you sent." Yeri felt offended.

"Ha...ha...as tempting as it sounds now that I have seen your "performance" in the video....I don't need that. I want what you just said.... Commander Kwan on a platter."

"You want me to spy for him." Yeri got the clear picture now. So she wasn't the target.

"Yes. I want you to get me something very much important from him. If you do that, I will leave you alone and forget this ever happened."

Yeri didn't respond. There was silence on either side.

"Think about it. Do you really want to ruin your life for a married old man with kids who will go back to them no matter how hard you try?"

Yeri felt it. It is true that no matter how much she loves Commander Kwan, he will eventually go back to his family. She was just a mistress.

"Fine. What do you want me to do?" Yeri replied after a short while.

"Good girl." There was a chuckle on the other line as the conversation continued.

Mun decided that he needs to up the game a little. He decided to call for a family meeting. Yeri was the last to arrive home.

"Ma'am. The master had requested you in the living room." The maid informed her as she came out of the bathroom.

Yeri looked confused. Why would he call me? She thought. Did he find out? Her heart raced. Hesitantly made way to the living room.

"Yeri. Come on sit down dear." Mun called his daughter.

Yeri smiled a bit and sat down in the living room couch opposite her father.

"What's with this meeting Appa?" Kai asked curiously.

"We need to make a decision regarding Minhyuk. He is out of control. The maid is scared to live there and take care of him." Mun said to the siblings.

"Can we take him to a psychiatrist?" Kai suggested.

"I was thinking the same. But I don't think he would agree to it." Mun replied sighing.

"But we need to do something right. Don't worry I will get him to the doctor. If he isn't going willingly we could force him." Kai responded instantly.

"Yeri, you have been quite. What do you think ?" Mun looked at his daughter curiously.

"Ha...nothing appa. I am just thinking. I...agree with Kai. We will get him to the hospital somehow." Yeri nodded understandingly.

"Alright then it's settled. I really appreciate you both stepping in for him." Mun played the good dad card very well.

"No need to thank Appa. He is our brother." Yeri responded genuinely.

The siblings left the living room to sleep and Mun stayed back drinking a glass of whiskey.

He picked up his phone and dialled someone.

"Is he asleep?" Mun asked through the phone.

"Good...give me double the dose tomorrow. Kai will be there. I want him in his best behaviour tomorrow. Understood?" He asked again.

He hummed as he received a positive response.

Jeongyeon sat inside her truck, listening to the phone conversation. She sighed feeling bad for Minhyuk. He may be a bad guy but being betrayed by his father wasn't something he deserved. If his mother was still alive he wouldn't have been a bad guy. She grasped the steering wheel a bit tighter. Mun is going to pay for it.

She picked her phone and send a message to Yeri.

Yeri looked at her phone as she read the message. She felt like crying but she believed somehow it's for the best. Otherwise her life would be ruined. She can't let someone like Commander Kwan ruin her life which she worked so hard to build.

Yeri quickly typed an okay message before going to sleep hoping somehow it will all be okay.
