Minhyuk sat in the living room talking to his assistant on what to do next in terms of his business. The majority of the shareholders and clients withdrew from the company leaving him bankrupt.
Mun had already told him to clean up his mess. Minhyuk was angry at him for not supporting or helping him with his problems. Mun simply asked him to hide instead of protecting his son.
His phone rang a few minutes later into the discussion. Minhyuk looked at the phone. He felt an unfamiliar tug in the pit of his stomach. He was sure who the caller might be. The Devil lurking in the shadows.
He quickly stood up to create some distance between him and his assistant.
"What do you want?" Minhyuk yelled in a whisper on the phone.
"Wow. No hello or how are you?" The dark voice echoed on the other line with a chuckle.
"We aren't really friends, the last time I checked." Minhyuk snarled.
"Still I am hurt. I called you to say something important but if this is the treatment I get, I am not interested in continuing this conversation." The voice said again.
Minhyuk thought for a while. Whenever he got the call there was something interesting happening.
"What do you want?" He asked again.
There was a dark evil laugh on the other end before he heard. "No matter how many meetings you have, there is no way you are getting out of this mess. Perhaps daddy dearest can help you."
"I didn't ask you for any advice. Just get to the point." Minhyuk replied.
"You know you wouldn't suffer this much if your mother was alive. But what to do, your daddy didn't leave her either." The voice on the other end replied.
"What do you mean? And how do you know about my mother?" Minhyuk seemed furious.
"Oops...I shouldn't have said that. Guess now that cat's out of the box, did daddy dearest tell you why he killed his own wife?"
"What did you just say? You piece of shit. How could you talk about my father like that. If I get my hands on you....I will cut you in pieces you crap..." Minhyuk yelled on the phone and punched the wall in front of him like a maniac.
"I will wait for you then. If you don't believe me there is an envelope in your assistant's bag. Read it carefully. You will know. Remember if I wanted you dead, you would already be. But I am trying to help you here. " The phone disconnected with a beep and Minhyuk breathed hard.
He walked back to the living room and forcefully took his assistant's bag. The guy looked at him perplexed. He searched the whole bag and finally found an envelope in the back pocket.
He opened it and saw several newspaper reports about his mother's death and police reports including autopsy reports. He never knew his mother was involved in an accident. All he knew was his mother died giving birth to his younger brother, Kai. He loathed his brother for the very same reason. He loved his mother more than anything in this world.
"Where did you get this envelope?" He pulled the poor assistant by the collar.
"I swear to God, I have no idea how it came in my bag." The poor guy trembled as he answered.
Minhyuk knew the guy was saying the truth. Whoever was behind this had eyes everywhere.
Eric Mun places the file on his table when the door to his office is slammed shut. He looked up through his glasses and saw Minhyuk standing there with a scowl on his face.
"If you break the door, you are fixing it." He said causally and went back to reading the file.
"How did my mom die?" Minhyuk asked as calmly as he could.
For a moment Mun stiffened. He lowered the file slightly to look at Minhyuk again.
"You know how she died." Mun remained calm as he spoke.
"Well to this day I thought she died giving birth to Kai. But today I learned that she died from a car accident. So tell me dear father. How exactly did my mom die?" Minhyuk slammed his hands on the table emphasising the last question.
Mun didn't respond. He looked at Minhyuk without much emotion.
"Who gave you this idea ?" Mun asked.
"I asked you first." Minhyuk didn't back down.
Mun sighed." Why would I lie to you about your mother's death?" He stood up and walked towards his son.
"That's what I am asking you. Why did you lie to me about my mother's death?" Minhyuk asked again.
"My dear son." Mun moved closer to his son and placed a hand on his shoulder. " There are a lot of people out there who want to take revenge on me. I don't know who told you these lies but what I told you is the truth. Your mother died giving birth to Kai. She had a complicated delivery. Remember Kai was premature." Mun was effectively manipulating Minhyuk. But he wasn't having any.
"You are once again lying. I have all the proof here with me that states she died in an accident. Or was it even an accident?" Minhyuk places the documents he received a while ago on the table and looks at his father.
Mun picked up the documents and his eyes widened. How can he be this careless. He thought he destroyed those documents years ago.
"Son, this is all fake. You need to trust me." Mun said softly. But that was the biggest mistake he made. Minhyuk got even more suspicious. He decided to stay silent for the moment. He can't trust him now.
Mun observed Minhyuk. He knew his son hadn't believed him yet. But for the time being he needs to work this way. Maybe soon Mun will find a solution that will permanently solve his son's doubt.
He smiled when Minhyuk nodded his head and sat down on the office chair.
Jeongyeon sat outside Mun's mansion, listening to the conversation.
"Looks like I could get an early vacation." Jeongyeon said to no one as she grabbed some popcorn from her bowl.
