"How is it, that the bastard daughter of yours, now holds place over your throne?" Addison asks. whispering.
"I mean, forgive me for asking," she continues, "but your daughter has absolutely no right to carry on your legacy after the king and you pass to the Starlight."
"Addison," My mother groans, exasperated, "she has my blood, that is enough."
"She is right here." I snap, placing my hand on the table and standing up, "You don't need to talk about me like I'm not here. I am a bastard child yes, but you forget that I am also the daughter of a god."
The shock on Lady Addison's face made me smirk, as she stared at my power curling around my fingers. But the thing that really made me smile was when her face paled as she heard the beat of Vashak's wings. He landed with a thud.
I've been watching and I've decided I might as well come and get you out of this situation, before you end up killing something. He said, blowing steam out my head, which ended up spilling Addison's cup of tea all over her tea time dress, which to be honest could have been more updated, I mean who wears a medieval dress to a semi-modern tea time. A Victorian dress would have been better.
What do you mean by watching? I asked.
I can see through your eyes, that is when you either allow me, give me enough space for me to do it myself or as of right now they are fully down giving 'me and Malfoy over there full range over listening to your thoughts and hearing, our conversation.
Please, for the love of our gods, never call him Malfoy ever again.
Last time I checked you liked Malfoy. He snips, I don't know why you would be upset about the name, since you also seem to have attraction to both of them.
Enough. I slam my walls up, as weak as they are. I turn to leave, but June's voice stops me. "Adorite Rae Griffin. You will not step foot out of this courtyard."
"Why?" I turn half way, asking over my shoulder.
"We must discuss your marriage arrangement." She answered calmly, standing and gesturing to the chair I had left.
"Marriage?" I hiss, "You've got to be kidding?"
June shook her head, "I will explain when you sit back down."
"No."
"Fine," My mother nodded her head, the look in her eyes said that I wasn't going to like the retribution. "But understand this, you are getting married, because if you're going to take my throne, and you will take my throne, you will need allies. Addison has granted my request of you marrying within her court, to give you allies within her people."
"I won't." I snap, "I'm not some prized mare to be sold!"
"You're not being sold." My mother replied, trying to calm me down.
"It feels like it. You didn't talk to me about it before this."
"Because of what happened, two nights ago." She said, sitting back down.
"You mean, when Sander was murdered. When your son was murdered. The one you left for the king. " I shot back, pointing at her. I was shaking with fury, fighting to keep control.
"I know, you're hurt Adorite, but so am I." She snapped, with equal pain.
"I don't think I believe that, you left us. My brother had to keep me together when you left. It broke me, you were the one thing that was steady in my life, but the you fucking left."
Vashak growled low in his throat as he caught Saber inching his way closer to me. I pinned him with a glare, and pointed at him as I saw what he clenched in his hand, "I will kill you if you even think about putting that damn needle into my skin."
"It's not him you have to be worried about." Addison told me, finally speaking. She stood up brushing off the dried tea stain on her dress. As she walked closer, Vashak curled his tail in front of me, keeping her away.
She watched his tail in disdain as he pulled it closer to me. "Tell your dragon, that his tail is not going to protect you."
I looked at Vashak and saw his eyes glowed with anger as he watched Addison. When I turned back to Addison she was waiting for me to tell her it was done, which I did. "You didn't say anything."
I raised my eyebrows as I replied, "I don't need to, he knows."
I do not like her, something about her is off. Vashak whispered into my mind.
Probably her eyes. I whispered back. Her eyes had such a predatory glow along with a look of immortality.
Vashak hummed back. The tension between each of us was thick enough that I could cut it with my dagger. Everyone jumped, save for Zhoron, when a phone started ringing, it took me a moment to realize it was mine. My phone was next to my dagger, underneath the band that held the sheath and between my skin. I looked to Vashak, cover me.
He adjusted his wing so that it was blocking their view of me as I raised the skirt of my dress and grabbed my phone. My heart lurched as I saw the name of Sander's boss on the screen. I hesitated a second before answering. "Hello?"
"Adorite, it's Lieutenant BloodThorn. I need to ask some questions about your brother." Maddie's voice makes my heart sink.
"Okay." I whisper.
"Where did your brother disappear to a few weeks ago?" She asks.
"I don't know." I lie, picking at the skin on my lip.
I hear the sound of a pen on paper in the background before she answers. "Why is your house empty?"
"I'm at school."
"What do you mean?"
"I'm at college." If you could call it that.
The pen continues scratching, "Where?"
"They would prefer to keep it off the radar."
Maddie's sigh makes my skin crawl. "Can I speak with the head?"
"That's me." My mothers voice makes me jump. I turn around and hand the phone to June, growling to Vashak. You weren't supposed to let her through.
Too bad. He replied, she's your mother, and mine.
I sighed through my nose. Fine. It wasn't long until she passed the phone back to me, "Tell her.", She whispered in my ear as she passed.
"Maddie?" I ask, she hummed, "Sander's dead."
