Bakugo POV:
Done. All the backpacks are packed. I walked over to Deku and IcyHot. "How does he look?" I asked. "Not good, he is slowly heating up." "A fever?" "Yes. We need to get him to an actual doctor and fast." "You're right. Let's go!"
I carried one backpack on my chest and Deku on my back. This way IcyHot didn't need to carry so much heavy stuff with his broken ribs and I could balance out the weight from Deku. IcyHot wrapped one of the bedrolls around him so that Deku would stay nice and warm. "Be careful not to slip" I warned Half n' half "It was raining quite a lot last night" "You too".
Then we left the mine and made our way further up the hill once more. The way up ahead was as difficult as the way we managed to leave behind. We made a lot of short stops in order to walk as far as we could get. We had been lucky with finding that mine we stayed in last night but who knew we would be just as lucky today. Both of us just wanted to get up the mountain as quick as possible. We didn't know when the next crushing earthquake would come or how much longer Deku could hold on.
IcyHot reached out once more. He gently got the hair out of Deku's face and placed his hand on his forehead. He looked worried. "Let's take another break." I suggested. Shoto nodded and I sat down on some rocks at the side of the stairs. He then got some water and a piece of fabric out of his backpack and carefully whipped down Deku's face and arms. IcyHot gave me the bottle of water and sat down next to us. "You ok?" I asked. "I'm fine. Don't worry." He looked exhausted. That's also when I noticed his heavy breathing. He was holding onto the side of his upper body. I took the backpack off and placed it down in front of me. Then I turned towards Half n' Half. "Let me see." I demanded. "I said I was fine." He answered. "And I said let me see." He reluctantly took off the second backpack and pulled up his shirt. "Turn towards me" I carefully took off the bandage around his chest. Fuck. It looked like it got worse. Now in addition to the bruises his bones couldn't carry the weight of his body anymore and his ribs started curving in, squeezing his lungs. It was most likely due to him having to carry so much heavy luggage. "Katsuki, I'm fine. You hear me?" "You're not." I whispered, not knowing what I should do now. "We can't do anything about it right now. Let's just keep going as long as the sun is still up. Katsuki, look at me." I was despaired. Shit. What should I do? I couldn't let Shoto keep going like this. But I wasn't able to carry both of them either. Even if we left our backpacks behind. Wich would be stupid because we couldn't make it very far without them. What if we reduce the luggage to one bag only? Wouldn't do much. Shoto would still have to walk, wich just strains his body further. "Katsuki!" I looked up. He must be in a lot of pain right now. There is nothing I can come up with. "I can keep-" "Shut up! You can't Shoto! You can't keep going! Just shut up and let me think! ... Fuck!" Maybe I should try carrying the both of them after all. We would probably be a lot slower though. I don't know if Deku has that kind of time.
Why couldn't they have listened? Why didn't we just keep going? Why did we have to make this STUPID detour!? I told them this wasn't a god idea! I told them we'd experience near death if we tried! Why... Why didn't they... just listen? "I'll just stay here." Half n' Half said suddenly. I looked at him in shook. He didn't actually mean that, did he? "You two take one of the backpacks and keep going. Leave the other two with me. Once you got Deku some help you'll come back for me. Two backpacks have enough in them for me to survive a couple days. But considering we have half the way behind us and the farm is suppose to lay right behind the mountain top I don't think you will take that long." "Stop-" "I am sure there is some shelter like spot somewhere close. I promise I won't leave it until you come and get me." "Shoto-" Don't worry I know how to take care of myself and as long as I don't strain my body I should be fine." "I'm not leaving you..." He finally stoped talking and looked at me. Then he grabbed my face with both hands and looked me in the eyes. He disguised his voice and said: "Don't be a pussy! What are you so scared of, nerd? You really think that low of me? You think some stupid rock can win a fight against me?! Haha! I will be the world's greatest hero one day! Ain't no fuckin mountain or little bruise can take me down! You her me, Extra?!" "That's not-" Then he leaned forward and kissed me. "I'll be fine. I promise! Go on ahead. I'll be waiting. I know you'll be back. That's why I'm not worried, so don't be worried either." "This sucks!" "I know" He kissed me one more time. Then he started to rummage around the backpacks. He repacked some stuff and made sure both of us had the fitting equipment. "Go on now. Be on your way and come back soon." I wrapped my arms around him and held him tightly before whispering in his ear "I'll be back. I promise!". He smiled at me. Then he looked at Deku and gave him a kiss on the forehead "Be safe..."
