Bakugo POV:
Finally! A pile of stones and old wood that could offer us at least some protection. We quickly got rid of some of the rubble then hid under the rest of it. We laid down on our sides and made ourselves as small as possible. I spooned Shoto so I could prevent as much stones as possible from hitting him. I placed the bag packs on top of us and soon after it started raining down on usTodoroki POV:
For a while there were loud sounds above us, everything around us quaked and the weight increased by the minute. Then all of a sudden it stoped. Complete silent. Nothing moved, nothing pushed heavier on top of us. I wanted to check on Katsuki who had wrapped his arms around my head and upper body. But once I tried to turn he held me so tight I couldn't move. "Don't! If we move too much this whole thing might crush us alive. We first have to find a way of getting all this weight off of us. The only thing stabilising this pile right now are our bag packs on top of us." as he said I didn't move. He loosened his grip and carefully pressed his free arm against the bag backs to see how much was laying on top of us and if it was save to move some of it. We could hear stones moving and muffled rumble noises when he did. Katsuki took a deep breath. "Ok, I don't think there is too much lying on top of us. Most of it probable already rolled past us and fell further down. I think if we both push against the bag backs at the same time, with full strength we might be able to get off the bigger pieces in one go. If the smaller ones then fall on top of us it shouldn't cause fatal injuries. For that you have to roll over to your back so you can push properly. So I'll try to stabilise the rubble as best as I can while you do so. Ok?" "Yeah." "Ready?" "Mhm...". Katsuki pushed up the bag back on top of me so I had enough room to turn without causing it all to collapsed. Once I was lying on my back he said: "Ok, now bend your legs so the bag back is resting on your legs instead of your stomach." I did as he said. After that was done we repeated the process with Katsuki. Both of us took a deep breath. So far so good. I couldn't see Katsuki because it was pitch black so I didn't know how bad he was injured but I could feel him shaking and once in a while he grunted in pain. I felt fine but that was only because he had protected me from everything raining down on us. For a moment we were just lying there catching our breaths trying to calm our nerves. And as if that wasn't bad enough already all of a sudden a bad feeling made its way through my bones and I got really worried about Izuku. He was all alone likely buried somewhere under rocks and stones. Maybe even unconscious.Katsuki grabbed my hand. "Ok, let's do this..." We then let go off of each other again and pressed our arms against the bag backs. "On three. One... two... three, now..." Both of us pressed against the weight as hard as we could. A loud thunder made the earth shake once more. Then a loud thumb and the rubble got heavier. Shit! We kept pushing. "C'mon IcyHot, that all you've got?!" "I could ask you the same 'Great Explosion Murder God: Dynamight'!" He chuckled and we pushed even harder. Fear inducing sounds and movements of our surrounding kept filling the small space with tension. A ridiculously bright beam of light blinded us. All of a sudden the rubble got much lighter and we managed to push what ever was on top of us away. A threatening rumbling sound became more and more distant until we could no longer hear it. Fist sized stones punched us in stomach and face as we moved the bag backs to the side. Both of us sighed in relieved as we looked at the blue sky, still getting used to the bright light. I looked to my left. Some of Katsuki's clothes were torn and he was bleeding out of minor injuries but all in all it didn't seem to be too bad. I slowly set upright. Every muscle was aching especially my ribs. "You ok, Half n' half?" "Yeah I'm ok. It's just that I must have broken some of my ribs." Katsuki grunted when he straightened up. "You sure?" "I'm fine, but we need to go look for Izuku!" I replied. "You're right. No time for slaking..." Both of us were exhausted and I was pretty sure Katsuki must have been in even more pain than me but we had to keep looking for Izuku.
We had no clue how far he had run ahead. We had no clue if he had managed to find cover or if he was crushed under some of the piles we passed by. Katsuki held onto my hand tightly. The moment I got slower or stumbled and fell behind he flinched and squeezed it as hard as he could. Meanwhile I couldn't concentrate on walking. Thousands thoughts and scenarios rushed through my head. On top of that my legs felt super heavy and my ribs and back hurt more each step. Then while scanning our surroundings over and over again I suddenly spotted something peaking out under a big pile of broken off boulder pieces. "Katsuki!" I pointed ahead of us. We rushed over to the pile while being careful not to fall down the stairs. We quickly removed some of the smaller pieces away. Underneath was a hand. A hand we knew all too well. Katsuki and I looked at each other for merely one seconds then without a plan started to push and carry away every stone on the pile. It didn't take us long until we freed his head. I kneeled down to check if he was still breathing. Thank god! "Let's try and pull him out" Katsuki suggested. "Are you sure? What if we make his injury's worse by doing that? Wouldn't it be smarter to carefully get the rubble off of him?" "We need to get all this weight away as fast as possible. Let's try and get the heaviest ones first. Then we pull him out from the rest. That way we'll cause as less additional injuries as possible and get him out of there the fastest way possible." I nodded. One by one we got rid of the heavier stones. Some we had to remove together. While doing that I had to tell myself: „Only one more Shoto. C'mon, one more" over and over again so I wouldn't get overwhelmed by the pain and exhaustion. Once that was done both of us grabbed an arm and we started pulling him out from under the remaining rubble. All of a sudden Izuku slide out under the rubble and Katsuki and I fell backwards, Izuku landing softly on our labs.
We now got a better look at all his injuries. His legs were completely crushed. Out of his right even a bone peaked out. His back seemed rather good in Takt. Probable due to his bag pack. That was good. The chance that he was paralysed in any way just decreased. Izuku also had a head injury and a lot of bruises and cuts all over his arms and the rest of his body. All in all he didn't look good. "We need to find a save spot and take care of his injuries! Now!" I agreed. I was about to pick him up but Katsuki held me back. "I'll carry him" "But you have worse injuries!" "You said earlier that you think your ribs are broken so I won't risk it getting worse" "Katsuki!" I made him look at me. "Listen Shoto, we are both injured and I do more exercising like hiking than you. Let me carry him first and when I get tired I promise you I let you carry him for a bit." I didn't want to let him but there was no use arguing with Katsuki Bakugo, was there? I first helped Katsuki pick up Izuku on his back then wrapped my torn hoody around them to relieve Katsuki's arms of some weight. Then I took all three of the bag backs and we started walking. We weren't sure where we were going. The only thing we knew was that we needed to find some place to stay the night and fix up Izuku in a heart beat. And of course we had to keep climbing up the stairs. After all that we didn't want to go all the way down again and let this be in vein.
We walked and waked and it didn't seem like we were getting very far. We were walking slow because on top of our wounds Katsuki had to carry Izuku. But for now we were just relived to have found him alive before sun fall. Even though it got darker by the minute. Sadly the sun went down on the other side of the mountain so we didn't have much idea of how late it was or could enjoy a moment of a beautifully burning Sky. I looked down at the way that we had survived then I looked forward to the path that laid ahead. Neither looked very bravery inducing. Katsuki came to a stop. He was out of breath. It was already exhausting enough walking all these steps and climbing over all these obstacles without wounds and a person on your back. "Let's take a break here" I said. "I'm fine let's keep going!" "We are taking a break! Now!" Katsuki rolled his eyes then slowly sat down on one of the boulders next to us. For a couple minutes we caught our breath. I looked around. Wasn't there anything we could use to take cover? It was definitely too dangerous to stay in the open like this! And we couldn't keep walking either because the chance of us getting hurt is higher in the dark the when we see where we are going. Not to mention our body's screaming for a long and rest full break!
As I looked ahead of us suddenly something caught my eye. "Stay here, I'll be right back." "HUH?! Wait, Half n' half were not splitting up!" "Just two minutes. Stay here." I left the bags with the other two and walked towards the little opening I spotted in the wall ahead. Something that seemed like it could have been an old mine entrance. "IcyHot! What the hell are you doing?! Come here now! I won't be able to help you if you- Wait! Don't go in there! TF!? SHOTO!" I carefully knocked against the wooden beams holding this thing up. It seemed stable and dry in case it would start raining. We couldn't have asked for anything better! I quickly ran over to Katsuki and Izuku again. "BE CAREFUL NOT TO SLIP! GOT DAMIT!" "Katsuki! I found It. A place to stay. C'mon only a little bit further!"
