Chapter thirty eight

Y/n PoV

Maybe I shouldn't have run away from the others, they probably knew where the girls were, but instead I was once again on my own. I had reached the school and was walking the halls but not a soul could be seen, besides the students slumped over in different spots, some were even laying on the ground

"Jesus, this place looks like a horror house" I said to myself, as I walked from room to room, I came to the kings office and pecked my head inside, but no one was there, I was about to close the door and continued looking when I noticed something on his desk, I walked in a closed the door behind me

On his desk was a book with the title 'The barrierer' i picked it up, but it was locked on the side, I sighed and looked around and started opening the drawers by his desk, there was a lot of things in the drawers, so I used my hand to pushed the things around when I spotted the small golden key, I picked it up and was about to close the drawer, when a small frame caught my attention, I grabbed it and looked at it, it was a picture of the king and queen, it looked old, I turned the frame around and saw there was text on the back, the date was twenty years ago, the day the barrier came up, I turned it back and looked at it for a few more seconds before I noticed something in the background, it was my dad, knelled down holding a little girls hands in his, me, he was holding my hands, he looked sad

Suddenly my head started to pound, and I dropped the picture in the drawer and grabbed my head, an as if I was struck by lightning, I suddenly saw something in my mind, a memory, from that time in the picture

"It's going to be okay my little shadow" my dad said as he was knelling to my height "I'll be back before you know it" my head moved slowly up and down, in a nod

"Cheshire" another man came over, the king, he placed a hand on my fathers shoulder, who stood up "you did the right thing" the king said and my father looked at him

"I know" my father said, and knelled down a last time, kissing my forehead before starting to walk away, over the bridge to the isle, I watched as he slowly became smaller and smaller

"Your dad is going to be alright" the king said, making me turn to look at him

"When will he be back?" I asked, my voice high and young

"Once he finds a way to lift the curse, for know..." he paused and knelled down to me "...just know your father did this for you, your soul belongs here, the one he has needs help"

When my head stopped hurting, I took a second to process what I had just remembered, what did the king mean by I belonged in auradon and my father the isle, I had the cursed soul after all, unless, my dad lied to them, but why would he do that

Suddenly I heard the door open I spun around, and came face to face with Audrey, her hair had changed since I last saw her, she was wearing a crown and had a staff in her hand

"Hallo y/n" she said and smirked as I stood frozen

"Hey" I said, trying to act as cool and unbothered as I could, as I slowly pushed the book on the desk further behind me "what's up" I said and she giggled

"Let's cut the bullshit, you and I both want something and I'm sure we could help each other out" she said, and I titled my head " come on y/n, I know everything, I know your father is dying and that you are trying to save him along with hades, but I can make it a lot easier" she said and took a step towards me

"What do you mean?" I asked, as she started to touch things along the kings shelf's on the wall

"Come on y/n you should be smarter, how is hades going to help you when magic don't work on the isle? Huh?" Shit she got a point, why hadn't I thought about that? Fuck "but I can help you, if you help me" she continued and lifted my hand from the book and crossed my arms
