"Earth to Maya." Andrea called her friend, gaining no answer. "Maya.". Again, no answer. "Maya!"

"Andy, yes, huh..." the blonde stuttered, awakening from her thoughts. Apparently someone had gotten hurt at a concert organized by some local bands, so the two firefighters were going to the scene by aid car. However, Maya's mind was completely elsewhere. She could do nothing but think about Keira and her brother Raphael. Maybe she and Carina should have asked them more questions, it was clear that the two siblings weren't living their best lives. Moreover, there was something in Raphael's behavior so familiar to her, something that she had seen so many times. Something she knew could be so dangerous.

"Sorry, I... I was... What were you talking about? she asked.

"I just wanted to know how you were doing. You have been a bit elusive lately.". Maya shrugged and focused on the road before her.

"Is everything alright between you and Carina? I know you've been through a lot and..."

"We're more than okay, Andy." Maya reassured her friend. "Didn't Jack tell you anything?". Andy frowned, not really sure what Jack had been supposed to tell her.

"What?". Maya chewed the inside of her cheek. She smiled, thinking back to the way her wife had taken care of that young girl and to the tenderness she had showed her.

"Carina brought her work home few days ago." she said.

"And you're mad because of this? I mean, it happens sometimes, she is a doctor and I think it's normal that she has to bring papers home sometimes.". Maya shook her head.

"I'm not mad. And i's not what I meant. She... she brought her work home, literally."

"Oh." Andy said. " Oh .". She widened her eyes in realization, while processing her friend's words.

"Yeah, I reacted the same way when I found that girl on my bathroom floor and Carina holding a pregnancy test between her hands." Maya told the Latina. She giggled at the thought, but became serious a second later.

"Carina told me she had already met her outside the hospital and that she and Jack had found her at the station trying to steal some meds. She asked for a pregnancy test, Carina decided to bring her at our place, to hide her from Beckett. When we drove her to her brother I... He was high, Andy. He was trying so hard to pretend to be fine, but he couldn't." she explained. "I just hope they are safe. I just hope he is safe.". Andy slightly smiled at her friend and caressed her back, sweetly, understanding that now she was talking about Mason.

"He is smart, Maya. I'm sure he is doing well.". The blonde let out a sigh, but didn't reply. She parked the aid car and nodded at Andy, then got out of the vehicle, followed by her friend.

"Oh, thank goodness! My brother needs he-... You?". And Maya had to appeal to all her strength not to drop on the ground everything she was holding in her hands.

"Raphael, you need to stop moving, okay? Your nose is broken and your ribs may be broken too, we have to bring you to the  hospital." Andy explained to the young man.
