Where did I go wrong?

"What are you cooking?" Maya asked Travis, stepping inside the beanery. "It smells good."
"I'm trying to prepare some mushroom risotto. Carina gave me her recipe and since she will be here for lunch, she told me she wanted me to cook it. I just hope it won't taste horribly."
"I doubt you can do worse than Maya, she almost killed her." Andy commented, joining the man with a pack of rice between her hands.
"Oh, guys, c'mon, it happened months ago."
"But we all still remember it." Travis replied, chuckling. "And the whole department too."
"And don't forget the whole hospital." Carina added, entering the beanery. She kissed Maya on her cheek, then moved towards Travis and Andy.
"I get that you're curious, but let us cook in peace, please.". The Italian raised her hands and stepped back, causing everyone to burst into laughter. She was about to say something, when the alarm rang, calling for the aid car.
"Okay, my turn." Vic stated, annoyed. "Warren, let's go!" she called the man.
"Well, more risotto for us." Travis stated. And everyone agreed.

Ben and Vic got out of the car and rushed to the man sitting against the tallest tree in the middle of the park. He was unconscious and next to him there was an old woman, who was calling them. She visibly shocked and Vic handed her a bottle of water.
"I was taking a walk, when I saw him. Oh Lord, please, help him." she said.
"We'll do everything we can." Vic responded. Ben was already trying to revive the man, in vain.
"Overdose. Give me some naloxone, now! Hughes, Hurry up!". Vic complied and handed him the medicine. "There's no pulse. Fuck." Ben blurted out. He started doing CPR, desperately. "C'mon, kiddo. C'mon. Don't give up!". he muttered. "You can't leave this way. You can't!".

Travis was still cooking and that meant they wouldn't have had lunch anytime soon. Maya was chatting with Jack and Andy, but it was clear that something was wrong, she looked too nervous.
"Let's go downstairs for a bit, what do you think?" Carina proposed her. The two sat on the couch and it was obvious that both of them had a lot in her minds. Carina took her wife's hand and gently kissed her knuckles, with tenderness.
"Ti amo." she whispered.
"I know." Maya replied. The Italian looked at her, a bit perplexed.
"Usually people say I love you too, but..."
"I'm sorry." Maya muttered, her blue eyes staring at the floor. "It's just that... God, I can't even talk properly.". Carina pulled her into a hug full of love and understanding. She knew that Raphael and Keira had awakened something in Maya. After all, she was going through the same.
"It's been four days since I've heard of them, Carina. I went to go check on them, but Kyle told me they had left in the night. I'm so worried."
"I'm worried too." the Italian confessed her.
