You're lost and so afraid
Where is the hope in a world so cold?

'Cause you're not, you're not alone

"So, today is the day. Are you ready?" Meredith asked Maya and Carina, who glanced at an oblivious Keira, both pensive.
"So, is she fine? I mean, is it safe for us to bring her home?" the firefighter asked and it was clear that she was very nervous.
"Her injuries have recovered now and physically she is okay. She still needs to rest and avoid fatigue and stress as much as possible and here it's the list of the meds she has to take if she is in pain, but she isn't a surgery patient anymore." Teddy explained. "Anyway, I spoke with her psychiatrist. She wants to talk to you before we discharge Keira."
"It makes sense." Carina commented.
"I can walk you to her, if you want." Amelia offered. The two wives glanced at each other and nodded, heading with the neurosurgeon to Doctor Melanie Wyatt's office. Her aunt, Katharine Wyatt, had been psychiatrist at the same hospital too and many of the doctors of Grey Sloan had been her patients, including Meredith. It had been her who had suggested Maya and Carina Melanie as Keira's psychiatrist.
"Okay, here we are." Amelia stated, staring at the door before her. "Listen, I wanted to talk to you in private, this is why I walked you here." she confessed. "I know what relapse is. I relapsed many times in my life, while I was in Los Angeles, here when Meredith was assaulted by one of her patients and my brother was dead." she started. "It's not about addiction, Keira isn't an addict. It's about the need to annihilate yourself not to feel grief anymore. She... Just make sure she feels loved despite everything her mind tells her to do, okay?". Silence fell between the three women and Amelia looked at her two friends. Maya was nervously biting her lip, while Carina was clearly fighting tears. The neurosurgeon tenderly smiled at her and squeezed her shoulder.
"You're not alone, girls. We've got you." she said.
"We know." the Italian muttered. "And we're grateful for that.". Amelia was about to say something more, when the door opened and Doctor Wyatt invited Maya and Carina to come inside. They waved goodbye to the neurosurgeon and entered the psychiatrist's office. Wyatt invited them to sit down on a couch and sat on a chair in front of them.
"So, you wanted to see us, right?" Maya started, not sure what to expect from that meeting. Next to her, Carina was madly bouncing her leg up and down, clearly in distress.
"Yes, I'd like to talk about Keira a bit before they discharge her." the psychiatrist claimed.
"So, don't you think she needs to stay here more?" Carina asked.
"No, I don't think so." Wyatt answered. "But she has a long and bumpy road ahead of her. It won't be easy, at all. I'm not saying this to scare you, but to prepare you.". The two wives nodded and Carina felt like throwing up. She knew what Wyatt was talking about. And she was so mad at the world to let that girl go through something like that.
"I want to be honest with you, Keira has barely opened up with me. I think it's normal, she spent years living on the street, her brother raised her teaching her she couldn't trust no one and if you're homeless this is how you survive. However, little by little it feels like she has tolerated me a bit more lately and she has been a little more talkative too. So, first of all, I want you to ask if it's okay for you if I keep seeing her once discharged from here. I'd suggest at least two sessions per week for now, I think we could arrange her sessions at your place for now, she will need time to settle and I don't want to stress her more forcing her to come here."
