It was barely 5 a.m. in the cosy place of Chandigarh when a car pulled up in a street with a truck following behind. The car turned to the left before parking in the driveway of a house that was left for rent. The truck parked itself on the roadside before the driver and another person got down from it.
At the same time, the person driving the car got out and was soon followed by his wife. The woman opened the back door and a small girl got out. She was wearing a blue frock and black sandals. A smile made its way onto her face as she saw the surroundings.
"Are we here ma? " she asked and her mother nodded smiling. "Haan door open kartha hun, aap saaman andhar lekar jaiye, " her dad instructed the people before he opened the door, just for his daughter to run inside.
"So big! " She whispered because she knew people would be sleeping because the small watch on her left wrist showed the time to be 5:10 a.m.
"Yess! " her father spoke just like her before lifting her in his arms. "We're gonna make so many memories here, " he answered making her smile.
Soon the shifters started arranging the furniture and other things that the girl's parents asked them to keep. As the couch was arranged, the six-year-old sat there silently reading a comic book not disturbing anyone as her mother arranged the kitchen items on the shelf.
It was 6:20 a.m. when the girl heard the gate open making her look in the direction of the door. She noticed a man who was a little older than her father along with a girl who seemed to be about 7 to 8 years old.
She placed her book on the couch upside down before making her way towards them.
"Hello uncle, " she smiled and he smiled in return. "Hello beta, kya aap sab aaj hi shift huae kya? " he asked as she smiled nodding.
"Haan uncle. Please come inside," she invited as they smiled before coming inside after removing their footwear, just as the shifters left.
"Namaste, please come, " her mother spoke smiling as everyone sat on the couch.
"I noticed that you guys just shifted, so I wanted to say that me and my family are happy to help if you need. Also, I'm Lakhwinder Singh. This is my daughter Shahneel, and we live next door" he introduced as he and the 6-year-old's father shook hands.
"I'm Jagadeesh, this is my wife Ramya and my daughter Mithra, " Mithras father introduced.
The 2 young girls sat by the table as the adults conversed. "I love your t-shirt. It looks cool, " Mithra spoke as Shahneel looked down to see her t-shirt. It had some comic type of pictures.
"Heh thanks. It was actually bought for my brother. But it turned out to be my size, " she chuckled.
"You have a brother too?" Mithra asked as she nodded. "Yes. His name is Shubman and he is your age only, " She answered.
"I feel like you two will get along very well, " the older girl answered.
"Yes I can feel it, " Mithra emphasized.
