Freen had a different feeling about this, the place was overcrowded with men, she looked around to see women who had came to register themselves in king's troops, she could count the number of women on her fingers.
There were only nine woman including her, then Freen thought that could she even be considered as a women, should she even be allowed to count herself as a women.
The king rose from his seat when he was sure no more recruits would be coming in, with an intention to address the crowd who had been brave enough to enlist themselves in the army.
" Good morning, my people, it is great to see so many men and women here today, the royal family is thankful to the people of this kingdom for trusting us, for trying to rebuild the army, we shall work together on this and built our kingdom back to its former glory ". The king took a pause and the crowd cheered, Freen clapped as well.
" Women ? ". A group of men standing close to Freen joked, when the king said he is thankful to women as well, they stared at the handful number of them present. " I don't see women ". One chuckled, Freen cleared her throat, she thought about not paying them attention.
" Every soldier would be given a daily wage and we will deliver a week worth of food to your family, the men will share living quarters and will have a joint bathroom, the same arrangement has been set for women ". The king added, Freen got scared a moment, thinking that she would even have to share a bathroom with others.
" Don't worry, we don't have to take a bath together girls ". The men joked, they were testing Freen's patience. " The bathroom has private areas in it so you could take a bath peacefully without having to fear that someone is watching ". A girl muttered, that calmed down Freen's anxiety about sharing bathrooms with others, for a moment she thought that her identity would be revealed and she would have nowhere to hide.
" How do you know that, Sulax ? ". Other woman asked her, she just shrugged, the short haired woman glared at the men who were clearly acting as if they had no manners. " My mother used to be a maid here before the war, she shared the same bathroom with other maids but didn't face a problem like that ". The woman named, Sulax replied to other woman's question.
Freen was visibly relaxed now, after learning that she is safe and also thankful that the women are more sensible than men.
" The training will be early morning each day, recruits coming in late for it will be punished, the Army's commander will be personally present here each day and will oversee each recruit's progress. The more you prove your worth and your potential, the better are your chances in getting a higher position in the army, As your king, I wish you all good luck ". The king finished his words and sat back down on his chair.
All men recruits were looking towards the princess, thinking that she would say a few words regarding this as well, Becky had thought about it but after seeing a huge crowd and most of them being men, she became self conscious.
" Princess ? ". The king mumbled close to her daughter's ear, asking his daughter if she was feeling alright, the king hadn't asked her to be present today but Becky took this initiative on her own, she was taking slow steps towards being able to fully accept her responsibility as the future queen of the kingdom.
" I can't father ". She mumbled back, the smile on her face, not fading away, she didn't let anyone see the lack of confidence in her. The king didn't mind that, he smiled towards his daughter and then informed the minister that this was it.
On the other hand, the people were eagerly waiting for the Princess to say something, they hadn't heard her voice ever, as she hadn't attended events like these before, it was the prince's duty to be by his father's side for this.
