To Keep Her Safe

CHAPTER FIFTY

" What ? ". Becca murmured, her mind wasn't able to comprehend Freen's words, her mind was still a little hazy after the nightmare she just had. " Your brother wasn't abducted, Becca, it wasn't your fault ". Freen cradled Becca's figure into her arms, trying to console the shaking body, Freen closed her eyes as a tear rolled down her cheek.

" I am sorry, Becca, I should have told you before ". Freen continued, she swallowed the lump inside her throat, she cursed herself for joining the king and continuing the lie for him, she should have put Becca first. " Only if I knew that it was still haunting your nights ". Freen choked out, trying to control her tears, Becca was still processing the information her lover just gave.

" How ? ". Becca tried to speak but her voice didn't come out as clear as she thought it would, she cleared her throat again. " How do you know ? ". For a moment, Becca wanted this to be a horrible joke, she wanted it to be a lie Freen told just to comfort her.

" Becca... ". Freen spoke but Becca just shook her head, she removed Freen's arms from around her body and turned around to face her lover. " This isn't true, right ? ". Becca spoke up, almost cutting Freen from her sentence, she didn't let Freen explain the story behind the lie, she was lost inside her thoughts.

" Becca..... Listen to me ". Freen sat up, her hand tried to reach Becca but she slapped it away from her. " Why would my father keep this a secret from me ? ". Becca stared directly at Freen as she questioned her father's decision, the decision to keep Becca in the dark. " Becca... ". Freen tried to calm down Becca so she could calmly explain what she knew about the situation, Freen didn't have the full information herself as to why it was decided in the first place but she needed Becca to relax.

" Why would he make me think that it was me, Freen ? ". Becca couldn't hold back anymore, she let out a painful cry and sobbed into her hands, she wanted to let the anger out, she wanted to punch something hardly until her hands bled out but the pain only made her clench her hands tightly and sob.

Freen couldn't bear to see her lover, crying and mourning for a lie her father told and a secret he kept from his own daughter, Freen lunged forward and immediately wrapped Becca into her protective embrace. Becca didn't have enough strength left inside her to protest Freen wrapping her arms around her.

" Why would he do that ? ". Becca sobbed and hit Freen's chest, she felt like a kid again whose brother was being kidnapped in front of her eyes and she was helpless, she was helpless as she watched them take him away. " Shhh Becca....shhh ". Freen rocked both of their bodies together as she tried to take Becca's pain away from her, she kissed her temple a few times as she waited for Becca's cries to die down, she waited until Becca was ready to listen to what Freen knew about it all.

" I am sorry it all happened, Becca, if I was you I wouldn't have handled the situation any better ". Freen mumbled and kissed Becca's tears away, she was honest with it, she had lashed out in front of the king himself when he told her about the awful secret he kept from his daughter. " How did you find out ? ". Becca weakly mumbled, she didn't have enough strength to punch her anger out, she was tired of hitting Freen and tired of the situation she was in.

Freen gulped down

The moment of another lie....

She closed her eyes

She hated herself

She was going to join the king

And become a liar....

" The night we ran away, I heard the king and your brother Prince Richard talking, I didn't mean to hear their conversation but I was skeptical from the start, from the moment I rescued Prince Richard from that headquarters I knew something was there that I didn't know ". Freen clutched onto Becca's body as she spoke the beautiful lie she came up with, she hated herself that she was able to lie to Becca with a straight face, the way she could come up with a lie instantly.
