To Keep Her Safe

CHAPTER FOURTY ONE

" you expect me to believe this ? ".

" You fucking asshole ? ".

The leader roared, he was furious that one of his most trusted men died in the forest due to an animal attack.

" If it wasn't.... then why am I like this ? ". Freen coughed up some blood as she said this, Noey was anxiously looking at Freen as the amount of blood she had lost could be fatal and she didn't want her to die.

" Do you think I am stupid like that king of yours ? ". The leader clenched his teeth as he stepped closer to Freen and bent down to grab her jaw. " He wouldn't sacrifice his life for a mere slave ". The leader stated as he tightly grabbed Freen's face in his hands.

Before leader could say anything, Freen's eyes closed, her body went numb. Noey's heartbeat picked up pace, thinking that she had killed Freen, the guilt would definitely eat her alive as it wasn't something she planned.

" Nice act ". The leader punched Freen in the stomach, Freen coughed up blood again, Noey was on the edge, she wanted to just rescue Freen from the torture.

" Leader ? ". One soldier stepped forward, he was shivering in his spot, afraid of the consequences of interrupting his leader. " You better have a good reason ". The leader rolled his eyes as he momentarily shifted his attention towards the soldier who stood close to him.

" He is here ". The soldier bowed down as he informed the leader of the presence of the guest they were expecting. " This soon ? ". The leader asked and the soldier could only nod, Freen fell to the ground as she lost the strength in her body, the leader and the others paid no attention to her as she grasped her stomach to stop the bleeding.

" He is impatient and wants to have the meeting right now ". The soldier informed, the leader sighed and rubbed his temples. " We will continue this interrogation later, take her and the others away, make sure her wounds get dressed up and give her medicines ". The leader waved his hands in the air, he walked behind the soldier following him to the meeting room where the guest waited for his presence.

" I guess this is your lucky day ". Two soldiers came towards Freen and carried her towards the medical room whereas the rest of the slaves were taken back to their cells.

" What happened out there ? ". Once inside the cell, questions were asked from Noey as she was the one who carried Freen and the dead soldier back to the headquarters. " Things didn't go as planned, Freen was caught by the soldier so she had to kill him and then we had to make it look like an animal attack ". Noey said all of that in one breath, she slid down the wall and held her head in her hands, constantly thinking that she nearly killed Freen today.

" She will be okay ". Sulax and Lisa came close to her and patted her back, Noey took a shaky breath in as she nodded. Noey knew that she could only be comforted by seeing Freen okay.

" Do you guys have any idea who is this secret visitor ? ". Heng asked, they were all wondering it since the day the leader got that letter, something is suspicious.

Before they could share their thoughts, their cell door opened and Freen was carried back to their cell with bandages on her wounds, her body had gotten paler in the past hour or so, Noey and Sulax took the job of carrying Freen's weight and safely making her lay down on the floor.

" I am okay, Noey ". Freen coughed as she weakly smiled, she just needed some sleep and she knew she would be as good as new. " I was given help in time don't worry about me ". Freen softly smiled and that somehow eased the tension inside Noey's heart.

" Why would you make me do that ? ". Noey sniffed, Freen chuckled that made Noey stare at her friend. " I told you I trust you with that and see nothing happened ". Freen said with a smile on her face that slowly died down as weariness took over her and Noey realised that, letting Freen rest for sometime.
