Things never went well for either, Boston or Nick.
Boston never knew how to love or how to live. He never knew how to be human, because he was brought up like an unwanted puppy, like a person, no one ever wanted here to begin with. Boston was mistreated and judged for pretty much everything he did. No one understood him and no one wanted to understand him. Boston had a really hard life. He had no idea how to live until one day he met someone. Except Boston had met this person before. He just didn't know it yet.
On the other hand, Nick never had a good life either. He was mistreated in so many aspects. He was called so many names that a lot of people hated. But most of all, Nick just never knew how to communicate with people. It was like that for him for a long time. He was 10 years old and he met a boy who looked older than him by maybe two years but this boy reminded him so much of himself because he was alone on the sand at a beach, just playing in the sand by himself. He saw this person and all he could see was himself.
Boston and Nick had a life that seemed the same. It was a life that you had to do on your own. They had to fend for themselves. They had to cook for themselves. They had to provide for themselves. And they did so since they were young and only teenagers. Boston and Nick had met once before and they were young 10 and 12-year-old boys.
.
Boston and Nick were now 20 and 22 years of age. They had met each other 10 years ago.
One evening Nick came across Boston who sat at a beach watching the sunset. And that was because he too wanted to watch the sunset. The sunset to Nick brought memories that he never knew he had. It was memories he's liked for so many years. Memories he's only been able to know and remember every time he watches a sunset.
Boston sat and watched the sunset because it was a calming and beautiful thing to do. He liked that it was him and the beauty of the sunset for just a few minutes of the day, it felt like home to him. Boston had been encountered by a person he thought he never knew until this person had said his name.
Nick: Boston, that's you right?
Boston: That's me, but who are you?
Nick: Sorry, my name is Nick. We met when I was 10 years old. You were 12. I believe you don't remember, but I do. It's good to see you again.
Boston: I guess so.
Nick and Boston sat at the beach and watched as the sun disappeared into the shadows of the world. Boston watched the sun go away and the moon rise. Nick watched Boston as intently as he could because, for the first time, he finally saw Boston smile again.
Nick: I know you don't know who I am, But I want you to remember me. I don't know how you're going to do that. But I hope you want to know who I am again. When I met you, I was 10 years old. It felt good because then I had somebody, that knew me and wanted me. You felt at home. I want that feeling again. I was 10. You were 12. Do you want to know who I am again?
Boston: I don't know you. And I didn't think I did. But I'm hoping I'll be able to because you seem like a person I'd get to know. Just take it one step at a time with me, please. I'm a little fragile right now and a lot of people don't like me, so please just go slow.
.
Nick went slow with Boston.
He made sure Boston was comfortable with whatever they got up to..
It had been 6 months since Boston and Nick met again after 10 years.
Boston woke up, looked around, got out of bed, got dressed, and ran out his door trying to get a hold of Nick.
After an hour he finally found Nick. He was walking back to his front door, and Boston knew this because he had once been here before.
.
When Nick and Boston met 10 years ago they had met when they were 16 and 18 years old. Boston had walked Nick home from a party they both went to and Nick had an idea of it because he was drunk off his face, when Boston took Nick home, Nick kissed Boston and Boston kissed back but Boston knew not to go any further than that, so he left a note with panadol and a glass of water next to him bed and left Nick' house making sure the door locked behind him.
.
Boston stood outside Nick's door, feeling a mix of nervous anticipation and excitement. After mustering up the courage, Boston raised a hand and knocked gently. The sound echoed through the hallway, and a moment later, the door swung open.
Nick, wearing a bewildered expression, discovered Boston standing before him. Before he could utter a word, Boston leaned in and planted a gentle kiss on Nick's lips, catching him completely off guard. The air seemed to freeze for a moment as their eyes locked in surprise.
Nick had never seen this coming, their friendship always teetering on the edge of something more. Yet, the unexpected display of affection left him pleasantly surprised. His initial shock quickly transformed into a warm smile, mirroring the feelings that had been hidden beneath the surface for so long.
The world outside seemed to fade away as Boston and Nick stood there, savoring the sweetness of the moment. Their lips parted, but the connection between them lingered in the air, sparking a newfound sense of possibility.
In that instant, Boston's bold move had shattered the walls of uncertainty that had surrounded them. It was a leap of faith, a declaration of feelings that had been silently shared. The weight of unspoken words was replaced with a newfound clarity, and the bond between them deepened.
Nick's hand found its way to Boston's cheek, his touch gentle yet firm. The unspoken questions and doubts were replaced by an unspoken understanding. They both knew that their lives had taken an unexpected turn, but it was a turn they were more than willing to explore together.
As they stepped across the threshold, the door closed behind them, shutting out the world and sealing their newfound connection. The future remained uncertain, but at that moment, Boston and Nick knew that they would face it together, guided by the courage to embrace the unexpected and the strength to follow their hearts.
And so, their journey began, fueled by a surprising twist of fate and an unexpected display of affection that forever changed their lives.
.
A year later. Nighttime.
Boston: You know I met you when I was 18 years old. You were drunk as hell and no one else wanted to take you home. So I offered, because I had hardly drunk alcohol then, so I drove you home after you told me your address. When I put you in bed, you kissed me, and I kissed you back but you never remembered it, and we didn't see each other after that, but I thought that was the first time I saw you, except when you said we met each other when we were 10 and 12 I did not believe it. But now that it's been a year since me and you got together, I've never been happier.
Nick: I love you, Boston.
Even after a year, Boston and Nick had not said those words, Nick had said them right now and he was the first out of them both to say them.
Boston: I love you too babe.
They shared another loving kiss between them and cuddled close in bed and went to sleep.
