in which louis surprises olivia by moving in with her
fluff
—it's another rainy friday night in manhattan, thick clouds hanging over the city and darkening the sky further somehow. despite the outside setting, olivia sits in her apartment, excitedly awaiting louis' arrival from the airport.
louis had gone off to london to see his family for a few weeks. it was like that—he'd fly to england, come back to new york, then go back to england, then new york, and it would repeat. although it sounds selfish, olivia admits that she wishes louis would stay with her, longer than he usually does.
it's late at night, around 11pm when olivia hears that louis' texted her and she instantly goes to check her phone to see what the message says.

in the meantime, olivia can only wait and find something to kill time until louis shows up. she turns to the tv and turns on sleepless in seattle to help distract herself. she climbs onto the couch and lays down, trying to make herself comfortable.
her eyes are nearly about to close from tiredness until she finally hears knocking on her door. she jumps up from the couch to answer, despite being seconds away from sleep. olivia swings the door open, immediately jumping into louis' open arms and squeezing him tightly around the shoulders, refusing to let go. he chuckles and kissed her in the doorway, not caring if anyone saw. it wasn't like they minded a little pda, anyway.
"i missed you so fucking much," she says against his lips, her hands on his face.
"i was only gone for a few weeks," louis laughs and sets the girl down. she watches him pick up a small gift bag on the floor, curious at what it could be until he adds playfully, "but clearly, i missed you a lot too. now, are you going to invite me in?"
smiling, olivia lets him in and closes the door, the movie still playing in the background. when louis looks up and notices, he smiles and sits on the couch.
"one of my favorite movies. how'd you know?"
she shrugs as she joins him on the couch. "i didn't, honestly. i just love this movie too."
he sighs and wraps an arm around her shoulders. "well. it looks like we have another thing we have in common."
"what a shame," she jokes. then she's reminded again of the gift bag, which he's set down on the coffee table. "who's that for?"
louis smiles, taking it and setting it in her lap. "for you."
"really? i'm flattered. thank you."
with that, olivia takes out the purple tissue paper from inside the bag to uncover a small teddy bear wearing an "i heart ny" shirt at the bottom. she takes the bear out and runs her hand through its fur. "oh my god, this is so cute. thank you."
"i'm glad you like it, but that's not all," he tells her. "there's still something below it."
confused, she looks back inside and sees an envelope sitting at the very bottom of the bag, sealed with a heart sticker. she takes it out and carefully rips it open to reveal a purple card. on the front of the card there's a drawing (which is clearly drawn by louis) of a girl and a boy holding hands with the empire state building behind them.
"louis... what is this?"
"a card. and i think you should open it."
olivia chuckles and slowly opens the card. inside there's nothing but five words written in louis' handwriting: i'm moving in with you.
"you're kidding. are you actually?" is what she asks, waiting for him to say it's a joke. he only smiles at her and shakes his head, which is enough confirmation for her. he pulls her into a hug, which quickly turns into a kiss.
"i've been wanting for this to happen for so long," olivia murmurs against his lips as they pull away, "but i didn't want to sound selfish. you have a lot of stuff going on in england and your family's there... i just—"
"it's alright, liv," louis whispers, resting his head on hers. "i know you care. and i knew i wasn't spending enough time with you and i was always going back and forth. so, i talked to my family about it and they were supportive of the idea, so... i'm staying in new york for longer. but i'm also splitting my time."
olivia smiles. "so where's all your stuff?"
"in the lobby. i wanted to wait to bring it up here for, you know, the surprise and all. do you mind having my vinyls here?"
"of course not. as long as you brought the cure and the smiths. now let me help you bring your things up."
he nods in agreement, grinning at her. before they go, olivia pauses the movie and they're almost out the door when louis tells her, "i love you."
olivia turns around and smiles, standing on her toes to meet his lips. "and i love you too."
