louis wakes up to olivia making pancakes for two

fluff

louis wakes up on saturday morning to bright sunlight shining through the bedroom window. he rolls over and reaches his arm out to the other side of the bed, only to feel a cold, empty space. he sits up and gets out of bed, wandering around.

"liv?" he asks, checking the bathroom and finding nothing. he hears the faint sound of what he thinks is music and decides to find out what exactly is happening outside the room.

as he shut the bedroom door, he can now clearly hear one direction's debut album and the sweet scent of maple syrup, which eventually draws him into the kitchen.

olivia is standing at the stove, wearing one of his sweaters which is long enough to reach midway down her thighs. she's lightly swaying along to the slow song while trying to focus on making breakfast. louis decides to surprise her by coming up from behind and wrapping his arms around her waist. he feels her relax into his touch and chuckle softly.

"morning, babe," louis says, pressing kisses to her neck as she flips a pancake over in the pan. "breakfast looks delicious."

"well, thank you," olivia replies, as if she doesn't believe it. "i'm kind of surprised you say that."

"yeah, because i meant to say the pancakes look delicious for someone who can't cook," he responds jokingly, earning a playful slap on the arm. he defends himself by pointing out, "but that's only because you told me you were such a terrible cook. and you could only make one dish."

she shrugs, placing a pancake from the pan onto a plate. "i wasn't lying. but this time, i did actually learn from the best."

"oh, really? and who would that be?"

"pinterest recipes." she smiles as she hands him a plate with a stack of two pancakes with syrup and butter on top.

"so what made you want to do it?" louis asks, sitting down at the dining table. "i mean, i thought maybe you wouldn't bother to since you think you're far from perfect."

"you," olivia tells him, running a hand through his hair. "because i love you and you deserve to wake up to the graces of my decent cooking. or at least you're the only one who would put up with it."

louis looks up, smiles, and tastes the piece of pancake speared onto his fork. "decent? i wouldn't say so. although it's a little burnt..."

olivia laughs and rolls her eyes.

"kidding. i'm kidding. it tastes great." he pulls her close and presses a kiss to her lips as she bends down. "i love you. now let's eat."
