louis and olivia get some alone time from the paparazzi and it shows
—
"louis! olivia!"
"looks like the boyfriend and girlfriend are back at it again."
"olivia, is your next album going to be about louis?"
"where are you guys headed?"
"are you enjoying each other's company?"
"do they ever shut up? and i mean that respectfully, of course," louis whispers in olivia's ear as they hurriedly walk over to their apartment building. lo and behold, paparazzi is up their ass with flashing cameras, just like every time they go out.
"only if i have a car door to shut in front of their faces," olivia jokes. "no, they do. if you ignore them the whole time, they do. but then people think you're an ass or that you're trying to be rude. which, you're not, maybe you just don't want to be followed every time you go outside."
louis sighs, feeling bad for her. "they don't know how shitty it is."
olivia shrugs as they reach their building. "true." then she turns to look at him. "but luckily, you do."
with a smile, he holds the door open for her and they walk inside, both relieved to be by themselves again.
as they wait for the elevator doors to open, louis presses his lips to hers, capturing both of them in a kiss. she pulls away shortly to say, "i think we're alone now."
"that, we are." he reconnects their lips and they step into the elevator when it opens.
"don't leave a mark," olivia tells him as his lips move to her jawline and find her pulse point. louis nods, but she isn't so sure he'll listen.
they end up stumbling into their apartment with their lips still on each other and his hands on her hips. he pushes her onto the couch and they shortly pull away for air, but not for long as he moves to kiss her neck. she pushes her hair out of the way to give him more access.
"louis," olivia sighs involuntarily as he sucks on her neck, despite her request from earlier. "i said not to leave a mark."
he separates himself from her and shrugs, not seeming that apologetic. "sorry. i have to let everyone know who you belong to."
she's about to smile at him until another realization hits her, and she runs over to the bathroom to check her reflection in the mirror.
"oh, fuck, we have reservations for dinner later," olivia whispers to herself, pressing her fingers to the dark red already forming on her skin and wincing at the pain. she looks up at louis, who's by her side again.
"i stand by what i said," he announces, and when she slightly glares at him, he raises his hands up. "i'm sorry."
"louis, i love you, but i have to cover this up."
louis understands she's not entirely comfortable with it and thinks for a moment. then he says, "here, you can wear this." he goes to grab a white minidress from her closet that also doubles as a turtleneck, which he believes should cover up the marks well.
"honestly, i would've given you one of my hoodies but i don't think it would be appropriate enough to wear at the restaurant," he tells her.
"either way, i would've taken it," olivia chuckles, because she really would've (if it weren't for the fact that the restaurant's a formal one). "i wouldn't pass up the chance to wear one of your hoodies. but since you gave me this dress, i'm putting it on."
louis smiles at her apologetically one last time before stepping out of the bathroom so she can change.

louis and olivia are halfway through dinner with their friends—conan, iris, madi, and jenna—when olivia instinctively presses her fingers over the fabric over the place where the mark on her neck would be. when she realizes she may be letting on she removes her hand and shifts in her seat.
"hey, liv, you're rocking that turtleneck tonight," iris suddenly tells her right after she puts her hand down.
olivia tries not to glance at louis before quickly responding, "uh, yeah, thanks. it's a... new fashion choice of mine." she pulls the neck part up consciously so that it almost reaches her jawline.
"too high," louis leans over to whisper in her ear.
"shh."
"interesting," jenna replies, definitely noticing how unusually high she's pulled it. "you sure your neck isn't cold?"
so maybe she doesn't have to worry about the paparazzi catching on to the hickey, but rather her friends.
and it doesn't help that louis' trying not to snicker next to her.
unluckily, that's what gives it away and conan's eyes widen. "are you trying to hide what i think you're trying to hide?"
"shh, conan!" olivia says, lightly elbowing her friend.
"well, cat's out of the bag," louis sighs. olivia rolls her eyes and hides her face in his neck while trying not to smile.
