THE BED WAS SOFT, perfectly enough for a good night of sleep. Kaori stretched her sleepy limbs with a soundless yawn, sinking her body even more into the mattress and warm bedsheets.

When she fluttered her eyelashes, she could distinguish the vague silhouette of a man laying down right next to her.

Kenji.

She smiled, her hand absentmindedly pushing strands of hair away from his forehead, "Morning."

Her fingers lingered by his cheek, warming up with this simple touch.

"Yaeko..."

After dating for almost two years, they had dropped the formalities and she didn't remember when was the last time he had called her Kaori. When introducing her to his parents, probably.

Kaori hummed as her eyes finally focused on the man. A heavy weight suddenly dropped on her chest and her breaths became shorter.

Kenji wasn't smiling. His eyes were staring at her coldly, the skin she was touching wasn't warm anymore and her fingertips froze against his cheek.

He had never looked at her this way before. His eyes, usually so soft around her, were cutting her flesh from the inside, "I think... I felt out of love."

Kaori removed her hand immediately, his skin was so cold she swore it had burnt her fingers. "W—What?"

Kenji's expression didn't soften at Kaori's bewildered face. He remained emotionless, "I'm sorry. Really, I am."

"What do you mean you... felt out of love?" Kaori asked.

Her heart was racing, her thoughts were going wild and yet everything was blank. She wanted to scream but her voice had come out in a broken whisper.

She blinked and Kenji was replaced by Chishiya. His brown eyes were piercing her with the darkest gaze she had ever witnessed. Shivers covered her body.

"You're not enough," he said calmly.

The slap was so immense she felt herself falling down an endless hole. Her body was going down, dragged away in the dark, pulling her so far into nothingness that she couldn't feel herself anymore.

Kenji's voice broke the silence, "You've been amazing, I've loved all the moments we shared. Truly."

Kaori was too far away to give credit to these words. Maybe he did love her but, right now, it didn't matter. Because he didn't love her anymore. She wasn't enough. Not enough for what? For his heart to flutter around her? To lay in bed and look at her? To come home and tell her all about his day? To spend a rainy Sunday on the couch and watch stupid movies on TV?
