IN ANY OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES, being on the rooftop of an hotel under a warming sun with a good looking man by her side would be nothing but unpleasant.

But Kaori could not forget the circumstances, being in what seemed to be an alternate version of the city, with death lurking around every corner in the shape of twisted games and even more twisted people proudly parading with weapons in their hands.

She was standing a few feet away from Chishiya, his back facing her, and she used that position to take a better look at the man.

His feet were firmly planted on the ground, showing a certain level of confidence and his constant stare was definitely enough to back up this impression. She liked how his blonde hair was shining even more under the sunlight —and if she didn't know better, she would easily assume he looked like an angel.

"Are you done staring?"

Kaori blinked, wondering how he could know she was watching him when she was quite literally behind him, "Do you have eyes behind your head?"

He turned around, his eyes finding hers as if it was second nature to him. Kaori gulped, blinking again, fucking hell, how can a selfish asshole look this good, this ain't fair.

"That's not an answer," Chishiya pointed out.

Kaori crossed her arms over her chest, "What if I was staring? It's not like you don't do that all the time."

Silence settled between them and the air thickened the longer Chishiya's eyes lingered on Kaori, as if implicitly admitting he was often staring at her and that he was anything but ashamed.

But Kaori couldn't keep her unimpressed face on for so long and she was growing more and more flustered by the man's eyes on her. She coughed and quickly diverted her gaze, "Why'd you bring me here for anyways?"

He huffed, not trying to cover the smirk after seeing Kaori's cheeks turning pink, "You want to get out of here, right?"

Kaori grimaced, "What's with the dumb questions, uh?"

"Kaori," Chishiya let out in a sigh, "Answer me."

Hm... he gets pissed when he doesn't get what he wants immediately. Interesting... Also... the way he says my name is just... oh stop it Kaori. She raised a brow, "What do you need me for? Just get to the point."

She swore Chishiya was about to roll his eyes but instead chose to take a step closer, "What's your view on Hatter's strategy to leave?"

Kaori couldn't contain her loud snort, "It's bullshit and you know it."

Chishiya's smirk grew wider, "I plan on stealing the cards."

She cocked her head to the side at his words, unsettled at Chishiya's trust to tell her what he had in mind. He certainly doesn't trust many people, if any, so why the fuck would he tell me? He must be desperate for help. Or... he's trying to use me so he can throw me under the bus after.
