" so... that means no coffee for me? "
KAORI was planning on doing what she does every single day. Until fireworks and a strange blackout brought her onto a place where she would have to play some twisted games to survive.

YOU HAVE BEEN PICKED FOR A BATTLE
Good luck !
On the large screen above the scale, Kaori saw her picture next to her opponent's who was already waiting for her behind his own desk. She wanted to rip the satisfied smirk off his face. Fucking hell, for all I know he isn't even that smart. Diplomas don't mean shit when it comes to intelligence. If there wasn't that stupid ranking board, I wouldn't even freak out at the idea of battling someone.
When she reached the desk, the laptop screen revealed four subjects.
MYTHOLOGYVICTORIAN ARCHITECTURE
LEXICONHISTORY OF THE AND SPELLING 20TH CENTURY
The man in front of her let out a dramatically long sigh, "I'm sorry I picked you," and his eyes scanned her figure, shamelessly checking her out, "If we had met outside a game, I would've offered another type of activity."
It took everything in her not to throw up right there at the man's disgusting insinuation and even more not to snap at him and bruise his ego the way he deserved. It was more than obvious that he thought she was an easy opponent and she had to play along or else she risked triggering him and pushing him to pick a very specific subject.
Not that she had ominous preferences but if she could avoid a battle about victorian architecture, she would be more than thrilled.
So she pulled the most confused look she could come up with and looked at him with round eyes, "Uh?"
The man chuckled and looked down at the screen, allowing Kaori to glance at Chishiya, who didn't even try to cover his knowing smile at her unusual manners.
When she checked out the screen, he had picked the subject. Lexicon and Spelling.
She bit her lip and kept acting dumbfounded when, on the inside, she was exulting. Her opponent could not have picked a better subject for her. I literally own a bookstore, that bitch can't beat me in that field. Ah, he probably thinks I'm super dumb by choosing the easiest subject.
Suddenly, a long manuscript appeared on the laptop with the following instruction : "Find and corect all the mistakes. You have ten minutes."
"I went easy with that one," her opponent said as he made eye contact with her, "But only because you're pretty."
This time, she couldn't help the tightening of her jaw and the deadly stare on her face. The timer started and Kaori focused on the words scribbled in front of her. He would be in for a big surprise.
