___

Lilys pov:

I sat next to my dad's nervously.

"First off, I've started my period second off. I've be-been struggling a lot," I say, not looking up at them.

"In what way lils?" My dad asks, placing his hand on my back.
"Just the constant crying and screaming. The loud noises are just getting to me, and it's making me really annoyed, and I've been struggling with coping recently." I burst out into tears.
My dad pats my back gently, and my pap moves to be in front of me.

"I'm glad you could tell us that lily, what do you think about me and dad getting you some noise cancelling headphones? Would that help?"
My pap asks, gently grabbing my hand.
I nod my head and fall into his chest. I'm still crying.

"Alright, Shh, you're okay," my pap whispers.

"What colour do you want lils?" My dad asks, showing me some options. I point at the pink ones.

"them ones," I say, sitting up and wiping my eyes.
"Alrighty, there coming tomorrow!" He says happily.
I smile and stand up.

"I'm going to call Amber. I said I would." I say.
"Okay, darling, let us know if you need anything."
I nod my head and sprint upstairs.

I call Amber.

A- "Hey lils!" She says happily.
L- "hi." I reply.
A-" What's wrong? Are you okay?"
L- "I'm fine, just tired."
A- "Oh, are you sure? You can talk to me, you know. "
L- "yeah, I know."
A- "How was your dinner?"
L- g-good, what about yours?" I lie, I didn't eat dinner.
A- "mine was good!"
L- "That's good."

We carried on talking for about 3 hours. I wnd the call because she fell asleep. She looks adorable when she sleeps.

I hope she doesn't think im weird. Like she dosent know about this yet.

I think pap is taking me to see someone tomorrow so we can find out what it is.

_____

The next morning~
Charlies pov:

I woke lily up at 9am because were going to see a psychologist to see why she may hate loud noises.

She also seemed to be off today. She's been stuck by my since I woke her up.
Now she does have separation anxiety but it hasent been this bad in ages.

"come on lils we gotta go, let my just put my shoes on" I say trying to let go of her hand.

She pouts.

"please? I'll be 2 minutes" I say, she thinks for a second before letting go, still standing right next to me.

"right, done" I say She instantly grabs my hand and squeezes it tightly.
"Ow lily! That hurts!" I say.
She looks down.
"Sorry lils didn't mean to make you upset."
She nods her head.
"Right, bye babe! We'll be back soon! Keep listening for the door!"
I shout.
"okay!" Nick yells back from the top of the stairs.

"Right, come on then lils let's go"
"mhm"

-- at the psychologist--

"Lily nelson?"

A doctor yells.
I stand up and look down at lily whose falling asleep. I decide to pock her up as it'll cause too much fuss to wake her up again.
I follow the psychologist into the room and sit down.

"So what's going on?"

"Well lily is 12 and she always seems to be quite upset or frustrated when there's loud sounds like banging or her siblings crying. Or even when a car is going across stones."

"right well does your daughter have autism?"
"no, she has adhd."
"okay well let me get some tests done.
Could you wake her for me." The doctor says smiling.
"yeah"
I gently wake lily up and they start the test, I see her face visibly get more frustrated and upset.
So I softly place my hand on her back.

Then the doctor plays a really loud down. She instantly puts her hands on ber ears and breaks down into tears. Trying to hide her face in my chest.

"Alright well, from these results I think your daughter has hyperacusis."
The doctor says. What the hell is 'hyperacusis.
"What's that?" I ask confused.
"It's difficulty tolerating sounds at a volume or pitch that would not typically be bothersome to others is known as hyperacusis. Hyperacusis is common in children, it normally happens in pre- school aged children but your daughter has managed to develop it." The doctor states.
"o-okay-" I say still confused.
"It'll take a while to get used to, you could start by getting her some noise cancelling headphones."
"Already got some on the way."
"well then, you have your answer."
"thanks for the help."
"Anytime" the doctor says. I stand up with lily in my arms and walk out.
Atleast that's one thing oit of the way..
