I screamed and kicked, trying to get free, but to no avail. I was put down in a room aside from the Map Room. I turned around and glared at Cole.

"Next time let me kill him!" I shouted. I ran over to the door, but Derrick caught me just as he entered the room.

"Derrick! Let me at 'em! He deserves to die and rot in a cave! I would prefer hell, but if it gets him out of the kingdom I don't care!" I kicked and he suddenly let me go. Cole stifled a laugh as I fell with a loud thud. "Ow why'd you drop me like that?" I turned around and looked at the prince. My eyes widened. "Oh...sorry!" I held back a giggle. I had managed to kick him in the royal jewels. I stood up and helped him up.

"It's fine." He grimaced.

I crossed my arms. "That's what you get from kidnapping me."

"I didn't kidnap you!" He protested. I placed my hands on my hips.

"Oh really? Let me go kill him."

"No."

"Please?"

"No."

"Pretty please?"

"No."

I sighed trying to think of something. I smiled and batted my eyelashes. "I'll marry you?"

"No."

I stomped my foot. "Dammit! I thought that would work." I blew my bangs out of my face. "I guess I won't have anyone guard his door and somehow an assassin will get in and kill him!" I rubbed my hands together. "It's perfect!"

Derrick walked over to me and pinned me against the wall. He looked into my eyes. "You are not going to kill Seth."

I stared at him. "You're funny Derrick. Really funny."

Derrick ran his hand through his hair. "Kava, I mean it. Seth is going to be important someday, and if people have word that our Captain of the Guard killed someone, well it's not going to be very good is it?"

I sighed and leaned my forehead on his shoulder. "I hate him and he needs to learn how to treat me like an actual solider and not some freakin peasant prostitute." Cole was leaning against the door watching us in amusement.

Suddenly, I heard footsteps from outside of the room. Cole opened the door and saw Stanley, the messenger, about to knock on the door.

"Stanley, what's wrong?" I asked, concerned. He wouldn't run all the way unless it was important.

Between each word he breathed in gasps of air. "Pirates, have, attacked, a, nearby, village."

I clenched my fists. Pirates were the ones who killed my parents and raided my village. It was because of them that my father, and mother were killed. I still don't know if my brother had made it out or not. I didn't notice Derrick next to me until he put a hand on my shoulder to calm me down. It worked, but only a little bit.

"Any survivors?" Derrick asked.

Stanley shrugged. "Don't know, I ran here as fast as I could as soon as I got the note."

"Note? What note?" I snapped back into reality and looked at Stanley. He pulled out a piece of parchment from his bag and handed it to me. I hesitated before opening it.

"Dear whoever gets this note," I read out loud. The handwriting was scratchy and a little hard to read. I scanned it and sighed. "Most of this is about the recent attack. Nothing important."

"You mean nothing to help you find your brother." Derrick took the note. "This could be important and save others in the kingdom."

I sighed. "Yeah, you're right." I rubbed my face. "Sorry, I just, after that one lead,"

Derrick put his hand on my shoulder. "I know, and we will find him."

When I was ten, I found something that had a hint about my brother. Which meant he was alive. Unfortunately when I tried to find him, I couldn't. Derrick had helped me, and we searched the whole country of Eswor with no luck.

I looked up at him and smiled slightly. "Okay." I took a deep breath and looked at Stanley. "Thank you Stanley. We will report this to Kinnley."
Stanley saluted then walked off.

"You're going to make a good captain." Cole said from behind me. I turned around along with Derrick and saw Cole leaning against a book shelf.

"I know." I said smiling smugly.

Derrick moaned. "Cole don't boost her ego further, she's already full of hot air." Cole and Derrick both laughed.

I huffed and crossed my arms. "You're both mean."

"Aw, did wittle Kava get her feelings hurt?" Cole asked in a mocking tone while bending down to my height.

"Does wittle Cole want to get his assed kicked?" I asked in the same tone.
Derrick stopped laughing and Cole stood up straight and coughed. I smiled.
"That's what I thought. Now if you'll excuse me gentleman, I have to get prepared for dueling." I walked out, but then put my head over the doorway. "Oh and Cole, don't forget, hand to hand combat, just find me in the arena and I'll gladly spar with you." And with that I was gone.
