As soon as Arnav left the table, Anjali and Khushi looked at each other.. The worry was clear on both their faces, "Hum Arnavji ko dekh ke aate hai" (I'll check on Arnavji and come) Khushi walked off. Before Madhumati or Garima could comprehend what happened, Devyani had reached the table, beside her stood an unfamiliar lady, who was beaming at them. While the Gupta ladies looked at each other in confusion, Anjali noticed the tensed frown on Devyani's face.

She questioned her grandmother with a slight raise of her brows and Devyani gave her a helpless shrug. It was Anjali's turn to frown in confusion.. before she could delve in her thoughts though, she heard her grandmother speak "Smithaji.. yeh hai Garimaji aur Sashiji, Payal bitiya ke Amma aur Babuji, Aur yeh Madhumatiji, Sashiji ki badi behen" (Smithaji.. This is Garimaji and Sashiji, Payal's parents, and this is Madhumatiji, Sashiji's elder sister) The lady gave them a broad smile the Guptas greeted her with a namaste. Devyani then introduced the lady as a close family friend.

"Namaste ji.. pehle aisi aake baat karne ke liye hum maafi chahte hai.." (Namaste.. firstly forgive me for coming up to you like this) She addressed Madhumati directly, since she was the oldest in the family "Aapki choti beti humko bohot pasand aayi.. Shadi pe bhi hum usse notice kiya tha.. bohot hi pyaari bachi hai.. aur hum chahte hai ke woh humaari ghar ki bahu bane" (I really like your youngest daughter.. I noticed her at the wedding as well.. she is a very sweet girl.. and I want her to become my daughter in law ) She spoke frankly, and shocked would be an understatement for the emotions felt by everyone on the head table.

Anjali almost let out a loud gasp, she looked at her grandmother pointedly, who stood there looking helpless. Acha hua Chote yahan nahi hai (Its good that Chote is not here) she thought to herself then it struck her.. he had been very fidgety.. maybe this was the reason... what ever it was, she was glad that both Khushi and Arnav were not present here at the moment.

Madhumati was the first to recover, she turned to Garima and then to Anjali, they looked too shocked to speak.. realising she needs to nip this off in the bud, she cleared her throat, "Humka maaf kardo nandkishore.. oo kaa hai.. humaari titaliya ke liye humne pehle se hi ek ladka pasand karke rakha hai.. sirf oo ghar mei baat chalane ki deri hai" (Forgive me dear.. you see.. we already have a boy in mind for her... its just a matter of speaking to the family) she said without any hesitation.

Anjali and Devyani look at each other in shock, while the lady's smile vanishes for a second before she recovers "Arey isme maafi maange wali kya baat hai... agar ladki itni pyaari hai tho zahir si baat hai ke uske liye bohot saare rishte aayenge.. tho hum chalte hai.. namaste" (There is nothing to apologise for.. if the girl is this nice then it is obvious that there will be many proposals coming your way... I'll take your leave then, namaste) She gives everyone half a smile and walks off.

Anjali felt restless.. she looked at Devyani and pleaded with her eyes, Devyani blinked her eyes, asking Anjali to calm down. She was thoughtful for a few seconds - Even though Arnav hasn't openly made any declaration of his wishes, it was very clear that he and Khushi like each other, and knowing Khushi's morals, she was sure it will be ending in marriage. She didn't want her grandson to miss out on his happiness, just because he is taking way too long to open up. Devyani clears her throat "Madhumatiji... hum aapse Khushi bitiya ke baare maa kuch baat karna chahat hai" (Madhumatiji.. I would like to speak with you something regarding Khushi) She started unsurely, and Madhumati nods her head, "Oo kaa hai.. hume lagta hai ke..Khushi bitiya aur chote.. humri matlab.." (The thing is.. I think.. Khushi and Chote.. I mean..) She struggled to find the right words.

Madhumati was smart enough to understand "Devyaniji.. humka oo dono ke baare mei sab pata hai nandkishore.. aap itni chinta naa kare.. Hum Arnav babua ke baare mei hi baat kiye the" (Devyaniji.. I already know about the two of them.. You needn't worry this much.. I was speaking about Arnav only) the relief was very evident on the faces of Devyani and Anjali, Madhumati smiled a little "Hum bhale hi budi hogaye hai.. lekin humri aakhen abhi bhi teek se chalri hai" (I might have gotten older.. but my eyes still work well) her words made Anjali chuckle a little before letting out a sigh of relief
