Years ago~

"I'm late!" Your 7 year-old self spluttered out quietly as you hurried up the grassy hill.

You scanned the large plain of grass, fringed by trees around the edge, looking around frantically for him. And there he was, sitting underneath that willow tree, staring at a yellow rose in his small 8 year-old hands.

"Yah!" You yelled as you ran towards him with a large smile on your face. "Baekhyunnie!"

He sat up quickly, standing and pulling the delicate rose in his hands behind his back. As you arrived, Baekhyun flashed you a large, toothy grin, watching you walk to him.

"_-___," He stuttered as you gasped for your breath. "I-I have something for you."

When you stood up, you found your nose pressed against a silk, sweet-smelling rose. You stepped backwards a little and giggled, gently taking the flower off of him and smelling it.

"Gomawo!" You exclaimed, jumping up and down a little.

Baekhyun only smiled slightly, looking as if something was bugging him.

"Baekhyun-ah, are you ok?" You asked, stepping towards him.

He kicked at the floor slightly, not looking up at you. He sighed deeply, peeking up at you through his hair.

"I-I-I called you here, because," He paused and swallowed hard. "I-I need to talk to you."

"Arasso, what is it?"

Baekhyun grabbed your hand and made you sit down next to him, staring intently into your eyes the whole time he talked.

He was telling you about how his father had gotten back from military service and how, when Baekhyun was old enough, he had to go too.

"So, promise me you'll wait for me." He stuck out his hand, pinky finger up.

You nodded and sobbed again, wiping your hand before wrapping your pinky around his. It seemed so scary to talk about those things at the age you were, hearing him say that he might never come back. But in those years to come, you had the best time you could together.

That fearful day~

You ran as fast as you could down the city streets. You ran and ran, your chest aching from the sudden gushes of cold wind hitting it.

You pulled your bag back up to your shoulder and hauled it on, still dashing across the pavement. You were going to make it!

Running down that familiar street, a cocktail of feelings sloshed around in your stomach with every pounding stride you took. You were so excited to see him, but then again it could be for the last time.

You skidded to a halt outside Baekhyun's house, breathing so heavily you thought you would faint. You hunched over before knocking on the door, just to get your breath back.

Baekhyun was 29 - that frightening age for all men across South Korea. Today was the day he signed up for the military.

You opened up your bag and pulled out a large, wrapped present, the shape of a thick book. It was a photo album you made with pictures of the both of you since you were the tiniest babies, all the way until yesterday, when you took a picture together in front of an ivy-covered, ivory wall, smiling brightly.

With a large grin, you pounded on the door as fast as you could, your heart racing. You waited patiently for the door to open, your grin staying where it was firmly.

The door finally opened, Baekhyun's mother standing there with a small smile.

"Annyeonghaseyo~!" You chorused, waving slightly.
