You can't believe you were being dragged along to another one of these stupid parties by your best friend, Yeonhee - again!
She said that it'd 'do you good' from being stuck inside your crumby apartment everyday - but you liked it, there in your crumby apartment. At least you didn't have to socialize with anyone you don't know in the comfort of your bed.
You finally pulled up in the beach car park, the smell of a freshly lit barbecue mixed with the sound of blaring music drifting in your open window. You peered through the windscreen as you slowly let the car shudder to a stop, watching the buzz of people laugh, run, eat and anything else across the beach. You had no idea what or who this party was in fact for, and honestly - you didn't care.
You slipped out of your car, pulling your bag off of the passenger seat and stood, squinting at the scenery. Quickly, you spotted Yeonhee running towards you in her bikini, her hair already wet.
She waved as she got close, a large smile forming on her lips, making you smile too.
"I'm so glad you came!" She exclaimed, breathing heavily as she reached you.
"Me - not so much." You replied, looking around the beach at all the people you'd only seen once or twice.
Yeonhee just laughed and turned around, waiting for you to join her side so you could head to the sea. As you were walking in silence, your best friend ran a hand through her hair and grinned widely.
"I just thought you should know," She started as soon as you both stepped on the soft sand. "Luhan's here."
Your heart stopped as soon as she said his name. You turned to her, but she wasn't there, she was walking away and talking to someone else. You felt your cheeks grow hot, your eyes widening.
Luhan was here? Your crush since, well, forever?
"Hey." A soft voice called to your attention.
You swirled around and saw him. Luhan was standing before you, only dressed in his swimming trunks, droplets of water scattering across his milky torso and arms. His hair was messy and wet, slightly dripping onto his sunglasses. His smile was sincere and gentle, as perfect as ever. In his hand was a burger wrapped in a napkin, tomato sauce spilling out of it.
                              "You're ___, right? Yeonhee's friend?"
"N-Ne, that's me," You stuttered, giving him a polite smile. He knows my name? "And you're Luhan."
"Yeah," He chuckled, looking down. "Thanks for coming to my birthday party, I know I don't know you that well, but I've seen you around school, and we've probably talked before...But maybe we could talk more today? Get to know each other a little better?"
You froze, your heart rate soaring up at an inhuman pace.
"O-Only if you have time," You stuttered, yelling at yourself internally to calm down. "I-I can tell you're a pretty busy guy, considering it's your birthday."
And as if on cue, a trio of girls hurried past in skimpy bikinis and flirtily wishing Luhan a 'Happy Birthday'.
"Thank you!" Luhan yelled over his shoulder at the girls, but turned to you, flicking some of the water dripping form his hair onto you. "But, did you at least want me to get you a drink?"
"Aniya!" You shrieked, earning a few glances. You lowered your voice. "Thank you, but I have to decline. The birthday boy getting his guest a drink? That's absurd! If it's anything, I should get you a drink!"
Luhan just threw his head back and laughed, shrugging.
                              --
"So, a music student, huh?" You said, looking out at the vast, shimmering, people-filled sea, sipping on your lemonade.
