Jen had finally made it to the farm. It had taken her longer than she had expected but two weeks into Yelena's mission, Maria had told her that she was free to head to Ohio as long as she kept her phone with her at all times. She needed to be reachable for any and every emergency. The car ride to the farm was as long as she remembered from her first visit there for the Holidays and it was easy to find but the sight she saw when she pulled up front was a cause for a double take. "What the hell?" She pulled her car to a stop and stared at the truck. She saw Peter standing out front also staring up at the truck. Jen got out and pointed to the truck when she saw Peter waving at her, "who names their company that?"
The boy ran over to her, offering to take her bags. "I mean the name says it all."
"Goats R Us? Did Alexei start up a goat company while I was in New York? Also, why is there a goat truck here?"
"It's definitely not Alexei. He's on the mission," Peter grabbed her suitcase and started back towards the house. "Natasha's room is ready for you."
"Okay but you deflected. Why is there a goat truck here?"
"Hey Jen!" Kate popped in from the back door. She looked a mess and had hay sticking out of her hair. "I'd hug you but I smell like ass. Make yourself at home. I'll be in once I get all of this sorted."
Before Jen had an opportunity to say anything, Kate had already retreated back out of the house. Jen turned and whispered, "nice to see you too, Katherine."
"I don't think she can hear you," Peter shrugged and continued to walk her bags down the hall. "Kate bought goats."
"Okay but why did Kate buy goats?"
Peter answered like it was the most obvious thing in the world, "there was nobody here to stop her."
"I don't know how I'm supposed to argue with that. I thought Sonya was in charge of the two do you"
"Do we look like we need to be babysat?"
Jen was going to speak when one of the goats started screaming loudly from the backyard, "I think the screaming goats speak for me here. How many did she buy?"
"Only two," Peter placed Jen's suitcase next to the bed. "A young mated pair. I think she's trying her luck at making goatlets."
"You mean kids?"
"I don't think her and Yelena are trying to have babies anytime soon."
Jen looked at the boy then patted him on the head, "I'm going to get settled. Maybe you should go out and help Kate with the goats?"
"Okay," he smiled at Jen and headed out of the room.
Talking to no one in particular, "Yelena is going to kill them when she gets home. I'll pretend I know nothing."
"Thanks!" Kate was waving to the man and woman who dropped off the goats as they quickly retreated from the property like they had just committed a crime. She was in the fenced in yard that had the smaller pen inside of it which was located in the middle of the bigger field where the horses and pigs were kept. She didn't know if pigs and goats could hang out together so she didn't want to risk it. "I think you two will be very happy here. We have two horses and a couple of pigs who are days away from being parents. I think I've located a highland cow that I can adopt and I'm thinking about getting some chickens," she sat down and watched the goats when her friend snuck up on her.
"Did you clear any of this with Yelena before she left?"
Kate rolled her eyes at Peter's question. Like she needed her fiancé's permission to fill her farm, "I don't need permission, Peter. I'm a grown adult. Plus, I have the space and loads of money. Might as well use it for good instead of evil."
