Yelena woke up a few hours later confused with the softness of the sheets on an equally plush mattress. It took only moments for her to groan, remembering that she was actually in Ohio with Barton as a guest of honor in her home. This was a less than ideal situation for the Widow. Her mind wandered to the animals, wondering how her horses were doing. It had been awhile since she had been home and as much as she didn't want to admit it, she cared about those damned animals. The more she thought about it, it was Stella's fault Kate hadn't gone on the rescue missions in the first place. If she hadn't been ready to give birth, Kate would've definitely joined them. She didn't often miss out on missions. So yes, she blamed the pig for her current situation.
Yelena reached over and checked her phone. Of course there was nothing from Kate but she had a few missed messages from her mom and one from Sonya. She rolled her eyes but sent quick texts to let them know she made it and that Barton was already here. "If the gods are listening, pray for Barton's life. All the patience will be tested today." She could hear him downstairs talking to someone. She assumed it was either his wife or Avery.
Rolling over towards Kate's side of the bed, she reached out and grabbed the brunette's pillow. She cuddled it, inhaling deeply, still smelling her shampoo from her last night's sleep. "You are going soft, Belova. Toughen up," she cuddled the pillow tighter to her body. "Push over," she wasn't ready to let go. "I miss you, little hawk." Her feelings were torn between missing her fiancée and being mad that she went off to another planet without her.
"I wonder how long I can stay up here before Barton comes looking for me."
Yelena didn't have to wonder for long. There was a knock at the door, "go away, Barton."
"It's me," the softer voice of Avery came from the otherside. "Clint sent me up here because between the two of us, I think he's afraid of you."
"I'm not afraid of Yelena," she heard him yelling from downstairs.
Yelena chuckled, getting out of bed, "he is totally scared of me."
"She said you are scared of her," Avery shouted back down the stairs.
"The defamation of my name," Clint was heard yelling back.
"The three of us aren't going to make it out of this alive," Yelena shook her head before getting up and looking at herself in the mirror. She had slept in only a pair of boxer briefs so there were a lot of scars to look at. She noticed the ones on her leg from when Dylan had shot her as well as the ones in her abdomen from the same fight. She let her hands run down her naked torso, wondering how many more scars she would acquire before she could lead that quiet life she was promised at her trial. Her body was covered in scars but she did not mind. The stories that came with each scar was part of her life that she would never forget. "I need more tattoos," she stated to nobody looking over the sparse amount of ink on her skin. She would definitely have to remedy the lack of tattoos.
Avery knocked on the door again, "you coming out? Clint has news."
Yelena sighed and grabbed a dark purple shirt out of the closet, "yeah. I'll be down in a couple of minutes. Go punch Barton for me." She pulled the shirt over herself, immediately grabbing her discarded cargo pants. "Is good enough."
After going to the bathroom to freshen up slightly, she finally made her way downstairs. "There she is," Clint was sitting at the table with papers and maps strewn about. "I know this arrangement isn't ideal for you but we are on the same team here."
"Team rescue Kate before she acts like a selflessly brave idiot and gets herself killed."
Clint looked up and nodded, "umm yeah. That pretty much sums this up."
