"Mom, we are in some deep shit!" I said to my mom in a pant. She scoped the 5 of us out before sitting back down on the couch.
"Well, there better not be any cops showing up at my door. You girls need to get out now!" she yelled as she lit up a cigarette.
"Mom, I think Angel's arm is broken. Also, our new friend Sapphire nearly passed out drunk. We need to stay here for the night. Please let them." I pleaded.
Mom stared at the tv screen in front of her while she rubbed her face and took another hit from the cigarette. "I suppose you can, but if I hear any sirens you're all out immediately you hear me? I won't take the fall for all of you being reckless!" She scolded.
I'm glad she's agreeing. I figure anyone else's parents would take us to jail themselves. "I know, thanks." I replied back quietly. "Angel, bring your arm here. Let me look at it." My mom said to her.
She held her left arm in place as she shuffled a few feet over to her. "Try to extend your arm," mom said softly. "I can't." she replied back in a wince. "Every time I barely move it, it hurts so bad."
"Well," She started to say. "If it was truly broken, you'd be on the ground screaming still. I'm pretty sure it's just badly sprained. Let me feel your elbow." She said as Angel reached her arm out.
I cringed a little at the thought of her already painful arm having more pain added to it by someone rubbing around it. However, we really can't afford to go to the hospital and risk getting in trouble.
"Yeah. Honey, your elbow is badly sprained, but it's not broken. Just make sure you make a sling for it and keep it in that until it's feeling better." My mom said after a examining.
"Oh, I still have my sling from when I broke my arm a few years ago. I can give it to you Angel." I said after remembering. "Yeah, that will work, thanks. Now I just need to figure out how to tell my mom how I sprained it." She said as she rolled my eyes.
"Simple, just tell her you fell down a flight of stairs. Nothing she won't believe." Ava pitched in. "We need to get Sapphire to Liz's room so she can sober up more; she's still in a different reality at the moment." She added. Yeah, that's a good idea.
Sapphire was sober enough to stand, but still so wasted that she couldn't keep her balance. Ava and me both walked her to the room where we laid her down on her bed.
After setting Sapphire on my mattress, the rest of them sat on the floor while I went to grab that old sling I still had. I remember putting it in a small closet in the hallway outside my room. As I was rummaging through to find it, I overheard them talking.
"Tonight was too much guys. I wanted to have a good time and all but shit, Angel you almost got sent to the hospital!" Ava said almost in a shout. I could hear Angel chuckle slightly. "Ava, really I'm fine, so is Sapphire."
Ava did not let that slide. "Do you realize we almost got arrested tonight? Like, could have been in jail for days?" She responded in a raised tone. Ava is always the one in the group freaking out about something, but I suppose someone has to be the mom of the group.
I heard Carrie speak up as I was walking back to the room. "It was a fun night though Ava, don't get so worked up over it. I mean hell, this is definitely something we'll forever remember and look back on, right?"
At that moment I walked back into the room with the navy blue arm sling in hand. "That it fucking is!" I exclaimed as I plopped down next to them on the ground. "We are going to remember this night for the rest of our lives for sure. We, my fellow friends, are making senior year of high school one for the books!" I cheered, trying to lighten the mood.
