Today is New Years Eve, and I'm nervous knowing I'll be alone with my crush tonight. I kept Sapphire in the loop, and now she is picking me up in a few minutes to hang out for the night.
The time is 6:24pm, and Sapphire is due to be here in about 30 minutes. I walked over to my closet and examined what I should wear tonight. Should I try and dress up? Or be comfortable? Fuck it, I just decided to be comfortable. Sapphire is pretty much used to me wearing hoodies and sweatpants by now. However, today I decided to wear some black leggings along with a college hoodie.
I also applied on some eyeliner, mascara, and a tiny bit of powder foundation, just to even out my skin tone.
After a few minutes of me "gussying" myself up, Sapphire texted me that she was here. I smiled at my phone and ran down the stairs. I told my mother goodbye before leaving out the door.
"Hey Angel!" She said cheerfully as I stepped into the car. "Hey Sapphire, what's the deal for tonight?" I asked. "Well.." she started to say. "My parents are out at a party tonight, and my baby brother is with my aunt tonight. So, it's just going to be me and you."
My heart nearly pounded out of my chest. I was expecting to at least be with her family, but now we're going to be completely alone. I really wish I could tell her how I actually feel. The fear of her not even being into girls is what's taking over though. Hopefully when the drinks start flowing, I can have more confidence.
I laughed softly and responded to her comment. "Wow, well I guess now we can get as wasted as we want and not have to worry about it, huh?" She smiled nervously. "I am pretty anxious Angel. I've never been drunk before. Plus, if we get caught, I am so dead." I tried reassuring her.
"Hey, we're gonna be alright. We can hide the drinks pretty easily under your bed or something. Plus, they probably won't be home until the morning when they get an Uber or something. We'll be alright." She laughed softly. "Yeah, I sure hope so."
It was around 7:20pm when we arrived at Sapphire's house. We were standing in her kitchen when she suggested something. "I thought maybe it would be fun if we made some party food together before we started drinking later." She smiled shyly and continued. "You know, like mini pizzas, mini quesadillas, mozzarella sticks, stuff like that?" That does sound pretty fun actually. I'm totally down for it.
"Hell yeah, that sounds fun. Do you already have the ingredients?" She walked over to her fridge, then walked over to her pantry and pulled out everything we needed. "I'll also turn on some music of course." She added.
So, for the next hour, me and Sapphire sang along to our favorite late 90s and early 2000s tunes while preparing to fix our food. We rolled out dough for our pizzas, chopped up some chicken for the quesadillas, and even made the bread crumbs for our mozzarella sticks.
"Damn chef Ramsey! I never knew you knew so much about cooking?" I teased. Sapphire laughed as she placed a cheese stick into the bread crumbs. "Well, I've always told myself if art doesn't work out, that I wanted to be a chef of some sort." I placed our homemade pizzas into the oven. "Well, I think you make a great artist and chef." I responded. I could tell she was blushing. "I just really like to create things." She added.
After we were done making our food and eating it, the time was about 9pm. "Hey." Sapphire started to ask me. "Maybe we can pull out the booze a little early? We can play a board game or something while I start out with small shots." I laughed while throwing away my paper plate. "Yeah, that's a good idea. We can do that."
Geez. She sure does make a good host. I hope she doesn't feel anxious because she has to constantly entertain me with something. Whenever I'm around her, I never feel bored.
